When you render from Vegas to .mpg, DV, divx, mov, the frame rate during rendering stays fairly constant.
When you render to a wmv format, you get burst of frames, a pause, next burst of frames, pause etc. etc. The length of frames corresponds to the video format (eg PAL wmv goes in bursts of 25 frames), so it seems just to be the way that this format renders. However, I can't help thinking that if it didn't have the pauses the rendering would be completed in half the time.
