Word Balloons?

Hello,

I recently saw a home video that had text word balloons inserted in the video. I don't know what software they used to do this.

Does Vegas 5 have any, for lack of a better term, standard shapes available for use on the video tracks? I'm thinking something similar to the media generator type stuff. Maybe arrows, word ballons, etc.

I was able to create word balloons with text in my Roxio Photosuite and then cut them out and paste them into Vegas, but this is very time consuming. Hopefully what I am looking for is there and I just haven't found it yet.

Thanks,

John

Nothing preset. But you could create standard shapes in Photosuite and then do the text in Vegas. It would probably be faster this way. Just create 4-5 standard shapes for different amounts of text.

You could also create bubbles in Vegas 5 by using the bezier curves tool.

Thanks Buster,

I figured that out later and that's how I'll do it in the future.

I just wanted to make sure that there wasn't a feature somewhere that I was missing. This is my second project with the Vegas software and I'm starting to think I may never find all that this software can do so I figured I would ask.

Happy Monday!

Insert text bubbles with the font Webdings directly in the Vegas text generator. Use a solid one and set its colour to what you like. I suggest white with a black, very thin outline. Set text on the track above and position it with the placement tool. Use black on transparent. There is no faster, nor easier way to do this. Webdings comes free with several Windows versions (although it may not be included in the default recommended setup). it includes a lot of good shapes that can be used effectively and impressively in the Vegas text generator.

Hey Tor,
I have webdings 1,2, and 3 but can't seem to find it. Can you tell us specifically where it is?
TIA,
Randy

There are two word balloon veg files on the VASST site that will help you learn how to do this VERY quickly with beziers. 4-6 anchor points, you'r'e DONE. Takes maybe 20 seconds, less time than Pshop takes to load.

Okay TorS,

I found the webdings in the Windows/Fonts Folder. It looks like they're used in different Windows applications as a "insert symbol" command.

When I get home later today I'll give this a try. Will I find it by importing media to the project and pulling it out of the Windows/Fonts folder?

Now that's exactly what I was trying to find. Some way of importing or placing a word balloon on a new video track then putting text in the word balloon.

Thanks again,

John

Randy,
If you have 1, 2 and 3, I think you must mean WINGdings. I meant WEBdings. To my knowledge there's just the one. If it's not on your PC or your Windows CD, it's floating around the net. Here for example.
