Vegas handles word clock sync through the audio card you have in your system that Vegas uses.

Does the Mykerinos support ASIO or Wave drivers?

I just got the ins and outs working with the Mykerinos card (though Vegas seems to be running really choppily). However, I've never before seen Vegas run as unsmoothly as it is now...

Pyramix uses word-clock through the Mykerinos. How do I set it up with Vegas?...

thanks!

Vegas does not have a setting for word clock. It is entirely upto the audio interface and its use of word clock.

You didn't answer my question, so I don't know what audio hardware you are using and whether the Mykerinos card support Wave or ASIO drivers.

Regardless, depending on the hardware and drivers for you audio card that you use with Vegas, if the card is being clocked with a word clock source, then that is the sample rate clock that Vegas uses. It is completely external to Vegas.

If your audio hardware supports ASIO drivers, and you are using ASIO with Vegas, it is POSSIBLE that if the word clock sample rate changes that your ASIO drivers will notify Vegas that a sample rate change has occurred.

For example, when using my MOTU 896HD and I have it set to use WordClock, the sample rate the MOTU reports is the word clock rate. Vegas still must be told that it is running at a specific clock rate - i.e. 44.1 kHz. When I switch the Word Clock to 48 kHz, the MOTU ASIO driver notifies Vegas that the sample rate has changed. Vegas can then adjust its project sample rate to 48 kHz.

In the end though, the word clock is completely external to Vegas. Only if the hardware notifies vegas through ASIO drivers will Vegas make any attempts to adjust its project rate.

Let me try to clarify a little more...

I have a Yamaha DMS2000 (digital mixer), a Pro-tools on a Mac, and a PC. I'm trying to lock them all together with word clock. When I go into Pyramix, there is a word clock setting. However, when I go into vegas, using the Mykerinos (from merging technologies) ASIO drivers, I get a sync error on my Yamaha.

I can fix the sync error in Pyramix by fixing the word clock... Is it possible for Vegas to lock to all these things, or will I have to not use it?

I hope I clarified, and thanks for the response!

I understand the workflow you want.

I do this with my MOTU hardware all the time, and Vegas handles it with out any intervention.

The ASIO driver is responisble for determining its clock source. Not having the Pyramix hardware I can say how they permit the ASIO driver to control or handle external clock source.

Vegas just does what the hardware tells it to. Vegas locks to the Hardware. So, as I outline previously, if the hardware/asio driver combination are locked to an external clock source, then Vegas will be also.

It is possible that the ASIO drivers wont permit external sync or that it some how forces an internal clock source when intialized.

With out actually having this hardware, I can't really help with the specifics.

Does the ASIO driver for this hardware have a control panel? What options are available? Is there a document available (pdf?) for the ASIO drivers for this hardware?

Thanks for the help!

I'll look around for some documentation on the Mykerinos... if it helps, Merging is a Swiss company...

I'll check out what's going on tomorrow when I get back to my studio..
