Workflow: Project Media vs Explorer?

I am just curious to know what you guys prefer.

How is your workflow. Are you adding source files into the Project Media tab before you start editing or do you just import the video straight from the Explorer tab and work from there?

I always use the Explorer tab and can go through multiple projects without ever opening the Project Media tab.

Are there any benefits of using it that make your editing life easier?

It's completely a matter of personal preference. In addition to the two you mentioned, there are a few drag and drop options. Some folks prefer to add everything to the Project Media, and then individually to the timeline, rather than shuffling them around.

I personally prefer to drag from the explorer tab pane. As @mark-y says, people have their own way of applying media to the timeline. Whichever way you prefer, is the answer.

Depends, sometimes it's easier to edit when just having the needed media in the Project media tab instead of searching through media folders with hundreds of media clips. Also in the media tab you have the possibility to make a pre-trim, re-arrange or to add media FX before applying the media to the timeline

I have media residing in various places on four hard drives, two of them for archives. I introduce the files to my project by whatever means seems convenient, without trying to be neat about it.

When I have my project in a condition I want to save, then I use the "Copy Media with Project" option and save everything complete in a new desktop folder, making everything self-contained and zippable and sharable. Roughly similar to pulling orders in an Amazon warehouse 😏

3rd: drop all media directly to the timeline from Total commander :) :)
