WOT: Skype Chat Scammers.

just a heads up.
During a Skype chat session with another Vegas user a few minutes ago I got this curious message telling me "live scan had detected...."

Needless to say this is at best a scam to con you into buying some largely useless piece of software. At worst you could end up with something very nasty on your computer.

Thanks for the Heads-Up Bob! Some people, hereabouts, may know I use SKYPE - now and again . .. ..

Yep, i've started getting those, and seedier offers too. Best thing to keep in mind is that you are *NEVER* going to get an official message about anything through Skype from anyone you don't know and trust implicitly. If you get a message from someone you don't know telling you to do something or offering something, simply ignore it. If you get a suspicious message from someone you do know, ignore it and contact that person through other channels about it.

Kelly, this is excellent advice whichever channel you are on.
FZ said somewhere, pointing at a picture of Ronald Reagan, "If this man offers you candy, invites you into his car or tells you to go and fight in a foreign country, tell him no".
If only people would listen.

I run my biz ph# thru Skype - anyone NOT setting their profile to private is just begging for things like this.

Practice safe computing folks.

And if only the people in his party had listened to him when he said, "Often the government is the problem. That is not the case here." And he raised taxes 20% when that was the right thing to do, just like he cut them when that was the right thing to do.

Few seem to know that Obama is a big Reagan fan and has studied him extensively.

And if he offered someone candy, it was probably Jelly Bellies. I just got a 4 lb. jar at Costco, and I approve :O).

Please. Without taking sides -- can we PLEASE not turn this into another political harangue? This is a VIDEO EDITING forum. There are plenty of other places on the web to vent about politics.

Is it out of line to take an off-topic thread off-topic ?
