Would I see a Difference? 5m<>2m Contrast?

Would I see the difference between 2 monitors of Contrast Ratios:

2,000,000:1

and

5,000,000:1

I've been using the 5m one but have an option to go down to 2m.

Both are LED back-light.

Reason? Well, my new-ish 24 December bought, LG developed a fault and now I have an option to go from 27" to 32" + £50GB.

Oh yeah, feedback on those using 32" monitors for Vegas editing?

Grazie

those are dynamic contrast ratio

it means they measure contrast not at the same time, but with difference in the backlight power.

so, its a marketing thing, using tv with dynamic contrast its like hear music with auto gain (but wayyy worse).

the important is the "static" contrast ratio. 1000:1, or something.

Yeah, I was just reading up on those points too. So, it's the STATIC that I should be comparing. Not very obvious from the LG stats?

I'm assuming you've made the observation that these are for dynamic rather than static 'cos of the high figures - yes?

If I could find the static and they are the same then I should be OK?

Thanks M,

yes. static goes from 400:1 to 2000:1 i think. usually, its 1000:1 or 1500:1

yes. obviously, contrast is one in many "itens" on LCD. also, if you plan to use in light environment, its good to have a high brightness. 120cd/m2 its the minimum, 250cd/m2 its the medium, 400cd/m2 its very bright.

i used a samsung 32" for vegas editing. its very good. S-PVA panel, all settings it need to do a perfect tuning, hard to get down to 24" after that ;)
