Ok, here goes. In the last couple of years I have burnt a few hundred dvds both RWs, +Rs, and -Rs without any problems. Now for some strange reason I can no longer burn to -Rs and the disks are fine. In order for me be burn to a -R I have to use a program like Shrink3.2, and then it burns just fine. I 'm still using Ver 3 that came with my Vegas studio 6 program. I have had a lot of success in the past with both. I did note however, I recently update to SP3. Any ideals on this issue. The only answer I came up with is to reinstall the program. thanks.

If you installed SP3 & kept the un-install data, you'll have a folder inside your Windows folder called: "$NtServicePackUninstall$" - you might have to set XP to show all files etc. in order to see it. Inside that folder is a list of files that were replaced - on my system there are several that could possibly cause the problems you're having. After backing up your system you *might* get things working by trying to put some of those older versions back (bear in mind they might appear at more than one place in your Windows folder). Or of course you could revert back to SP2...

Or, you could just use ImgBurn to burn your DVDs, or pick up 1 of the OEM CDs cheap for Roxio or Nero, download one of the free burning apps and so on.
