Does anyone know if you will be able to output back to the XDCAM HD from your NLE system?
Also, is it possible to use XDCAM disks as data storage?

Via HD SDI should certainly work but perhps we should first cross the bridge of getting it INTO your NLE.

I guess as you can access the drive via a network.

You can ingest from XDCAM HD into Vegas (and I'm just going on the literature here, so don't quote me) as long as you recorded in 25mbps mode. But you won't be able to use the MXF files themselves, hence defying the point of using XDCAM in the first place.

As for data storage. Currently you will have your original footage on the disc. Plus the file structure of the disc always reserves 500Mb of space to use for general storage (editing notes, NLE files, supplementary graphics files used in an edit etc).
