HELP !!!

I just had the XP auto update completely screw up ALL my Sony softwares...
None of them will open after this latest update today.

I have used system restore twice to get it back to prior to the update and my programs will open as normal.

Let the update happen and it all screws up again. Have done this routine twice tonight.

Anyone else getting this affect?

Other programs seem to be OK, only my SCS programs are messed up.

.Net 1.1 and 2.0 updates turned into ".NOT" for many this month.

Big saga.

Check the log.

Coursedesign:
What log should I check?
The error reports for each SCS program are huge long lists of numbers....don't have a clue what it means...

"Net 1.1 and 2.0 updates turned into ".NOT" for many this month"
What happened and What would you suggest?

I "restored" again to prior to updates and am rendering a project/DVD right now (lost 2 hrs going in stupid circles) and once I get my burned disc can use old computer to burn copies BUT, that doesn't address the update sitting there waiting to be installed (YET again....)
What would you do?

Thanks much
Eileen

UPdate:

Is it possible to get a corrupted Windows' update?

After finishing my dvd project shut down for the night and this morning the auto-update started to install again. This time I let it do its thing and then reboot.....

Good news is that this time I can open my SCS programs without all the errors that kept showing up last night keeping me from getting into my programs and projects.

Big relief!

The programs that worked were probably those that didn't use .Net.

SCS software uses it extensively and when you updated without rebooting there was likely some confusion between code snippets in memory and on disk.

Glad it's working for you!

(It took me and many others a lot more to get those updates digested.)

"It took me and many others a lot more to get those updates digested"

What's so confounding is that I did reboot about 4 times last night hoping I could get the proverbial "dust to settle" and be working again...but it just wouldn't do that, hence the 'system restore' twice just to get rid of the update effect so I could use my software and get on with my editing and dvd burning.
What a big PIA !

I think you might be on to something with the memory getting clogged, confused, or something that the numerous reboots I thought would settle out....I also ran "CrapCleaner" several times to clear out bad stuff and each time it gave me a list of stuff to delete.....

Hope your experience was a lot smoother!

Thanks again,
Eileen
