YABug report....

Im currently working on a project using DVDA and would like to know why I have these two weird problems.

1. Dead buttons? - Earlier today i'd created a menu containing several buttons that link to their appropriate submenus. Once finished i then went on to build more similar menus with the same functionality. I then went back to my first menu, just to find all the buttons, including media buttons wouldn't accept the click event when previewed! the primary button was highlighted(which is good) but i couldn't select or navigate around as expected. IE the buttons had stop acting like buttons and could simply of been static non-functionaly graphics on the menu page. After scratching my head for a while, wondering why this had happend to my first menu but not the rest, i then copied a tried and tested button from a later menu and pasted it onto the first menu to find this had now stop functioning too. The really weird thing is that the problem has only occurred on the first menu and not the rest... any ideas? - due to tight deadlines I had to start the whole project again as i couldn't find any logic to why this had happened.

2. Dragging menus in the Project Window will crash DVDA? - OK, i've just solved this one! it seems if i drag a menu item onto another menu (purple icons) DVDA will crash... to prevent this happening you must drag and drop menus into the parent folder and not the child menu/folder. Seems obvious now, but for $600 id expect the software not to die so dramatically for this mistake. Even though my intention was not to add into the child menu, i would of thought this action would of swapped the order of the menus around???

Not sure about the first one -- I'll do some experimenting, but I've never noticed anything like that before. What does it say in the Button Properties / Action section of the Properties window for each of the (now non-functioning) buttons?

The second problem doesn't sound normal to me, either. I did what I believe you're attempting, and had no crashing. I added four submenus to the main menu, put a media link on the main menu, and meda links on some of the sub menus. Then, within the Project Overview window, I dragged various items (both meda links and submenu links) around, dropping them on the menus (the purple icons). The items simply changed places as I wanted.

Perhaps this is a system conflict of some kind -- how long have you been running DVDA? Maybe a re-install will fix things.

Hi Rob, thanks for your reply!

First question: The button properties are displaying their correct data. The problem has occurred again and seems to be to do with the first menu i have in the tree. This menu is simply and introduction movie that wil play and then jump to my second menu with those dead buttons. It seems as if DVDA will copy the properties of the first menu item to any new menus added. As this intro menu doesn't contain buttons i can only suspect its something to do with this. To test for this, i've rearranged the order of the menus, so that the first menu in the tree contains functional buttons. This seems to work and when a new menu is added the buttons function as expected. Very strange indeed!

The second problem is probably a system confilct as you say or im just unlucky and have received the one in a million defect copies of DVDA. Using the same installer, i've tested this on another system and this crashes too.
Thanks for helping and testing this in your own time, i think i didn't expliain to clearly last time and may of confused submenus with mainmenus. Ive tested what you've done and i get no crash. The crash occurs when i drag a main menu(purpe icon) onto another mainmenu(purple icon) within the same parent folder. I've been running DVDA for around two months now.

Thanks again Rob!
