Yahoo video settings

Using VMS 9a and 1920x1080i video from a HDR-CX12, I am trying to get the best possible video on Yahoo.

It appears that Yahoo allows for 16:9 footage at approx. 570x320 pixels.

I am fairly new to video, having spent years in still image processing and am a bit puzzled by the size constraints of video.

Can VMS 9a render a 1920x1080 to 570x320?

What would be the appropriate format, avi, wmv, mov ...?

Yeah, I may have answered my own questions.

Under Project:Properties, set:
template to HDV 720-30p (1280x720,29.970fps)
width "570", height "320"
full resolution rendering quality "Best"

Render as wmv

The upload into Yahoo will show as 16:9 ... no lettering!

Why would you use yahoo in the first place? It has full ads in the beginning, quality is abysmal, and no one is watching videos on that site. IMHO, you go with youtube if you want the exposure, or with Vimeo if you want the quality.

Thanks, I will try Vimeo.

I don't mind ads if I can get results and a 16:9 footprint.

I assume you looked at the Yahoo link and have opined that Vimeo is better ... correct?

Yes, Vimeo is much better in quality.
Check this one when you export in 720p:
http://vimeo.com/466667
and when you upload an SD clip:
http://vimeo.com/1675042

Both clips were shot with the consumer camera HV20 ($700).

Wow, you have made a believer.

Now, Vimeo says; "Choose H.264 for the video codec" Am I correct that this is MPEG-4 10?

How does Vegas 9a provide such?

Sorry if I don't use the correct verbage but I am a "babe in the woods".

Many thanks for you responses.

Here you are:

Use the Sony AVC exporting method discussed there for 720p.

You have set the video to "private" so it's not viewable by anyone else than you. Please go to the settings of the said video and make it viewable again.

Sorry, it is now set to public.

Thanks for staying with me.

Looks good! For the future videos there, always add some description and tags (separated with commas) as it's the only way for people to find videos -- vimeo is not great at searching you see.
