I, for one, appreciate the "Soldier in the Rain" reference.

I confess to not being a Vegas power user - I use a different NLE more day to day, but there are things that Vegas does much better. Posts in these forums have challenged me to try new things in Vegas, to pop the hood, and change my own "spark plugs".

What I really like about these forums is the vast wealth of knowledge of many different aspects of the video and audio craft that people bring up for discussion. I've learned so much about lighting, color correction, microphone techniques and general editing tips that are topics WELL beyond Vegas or Sound Forge. And not just practice, but theory as well. I've seen some well thought out discussions regarding copyright, licensing and legal issues. I've read some interesting political opinions as well.

It's heartening to see someone post a link to a video clip with a problem, and 15 people download it and try to help the poster figure out the dilemma, whether it be a color correction problem, or distorted or noisy audio.

Ladies and gentlemen, I thank you!

Tom

I may not post every day, but there is rarely a day that I do not scan the posts for interesting tidbits.

Your post really explains the utility (and beauty) of this message board:

"It's heartening to see someone post a link to a video clip with a problem, and 15 people download it and try to help the poster figure out the dilemma, whether it be a color correction problem, or distorted or noisy audio."

You'll hardly see that anywhere, these days.
