Ultra 2 is slightly better than Vegas, but with Chromablur, using a garbage matte, I find I'm pretty darn close to Ultra 2, even if it isn't as fast. Good lighting is key (no pun intended) in achieving a clean matte.

Thanks for your patients... but how do you get the garbage matte in Vegas? Is it an fx... or.. what?
From what I understand, it is a mask you put on the video track to block out what isn't covered by your green-screen? How do you do this?
You create it with your greenscreen footage. Turn on the mask and duplicate the greenscreen track, then turn off Mask in the lower track. Parent the upper track to the lower.
Ultra is my fav. One way to get a perfect key in Ultra is to shoot a few seconds of just the green screen without the talent. Then when you’re in Ultra, just press the Set Key button and you’re done. Ultra reads the screen and gives you a perfect key every time. Download the demo and try it. I thought Vegas was good enough until I tried Ultra. If you do a lot of keying, it saves a lot of time (especially on poorly lit screens).
