Theuns wrote on 8/29/2023, 3:27 PM

Hi Every One

I did the Following Video to show you what problem I am sitting with.

I know it is may be a bit long but it is better for you to see what I do

and what happens when I Edit and Render the Video.

I do show you all my Settings that I work with so I did save some time there

Here is the Video It is about 15 minutes long but it shows everything.

Thx for the Help

What do you have enabled under the video tab of preferences for GPU acceleration? Does it list your intel integrated GPU? AI effects like depth maps (zdepth) require an enormous amount of CPU and GPU power to pull off, so they do affect performance a lot when being used.

I have had a problem with AI FX using CPU instead of GPU, but looking at your encode, you have very little CPU activity when using Z-Depth, so I think you are using GPU, but your IGPU630 is too slow, which is slowing down your CPU and everything else.

Zdepth at 1080P24 uses 145w of GPU(30w idle), which your IGPU630 can't deliver, however I still think it's unusual for Z-depth to be as slow as it is on your system. Maybe it would work better using CPU only for AI, there's a setting for that in internal preferences. But see what others have to say

Thx @Former user And @fr0sty

Can you may be explain to me Step by step how to make it faster or just Rec a How to Video if you don't mind to show me what to do. That will help me a lot.

I don't think it'll run much faster short of buying a more powerful system.

50% of ram dedicated to dynamic ram preview is too much with a system that only has 16GB total.

Adding a GPU to your system would speed performance (this is a desktop computer, right?)

Hi @RogerS yes it is a Desktop (PC)

How do I add a GPU ?

The computer in your signature looks fairly modern. Assuming there is room in the case and the power supply can handle it you could add a GPU from NVIDIA, AMD or even Intel that will do the processing of Fx.

For AI-powered Fx, team VEGAS recommends NVIDIA RTX 20XX series or equivalent. I have a 2080 Super myself which works fine and was affordable used (should be <$300 from Ebay). If the technical side of this is difficult a local computer store or technician could help you.

Thx @RogerS I will go to my IT Guy and ask him what it will cost me I did buy a new PC Last year just to get it up to standards for Vegas And it did cost me over R15 000 already.

@RogerS can you help me with the Right GPU to buy.

I don't want to upgrade every year with a bigger GPU

I like to buy one that will last and work for the next 5 to 10 years

I am not good with the inner parts of a PC and what is better

or which one will work for the next 5 to 10 years.

Here is a list of the NVIDIA GPU's

NVIDIA RTX 2060

 NVIDIA   RTX 2070,

 NVIDIA RTX 2080

 NVIDIA RTX 2080Ti

I am not playing Games on my PC It is only for the Video

Editing of Vegas that I need it.

I think 10 years may not be realistic for any computer part unless you don't intend to upgrade cameras or video editing software for that long. Even VEGAS cuts off GPU support after 6 or 7 years.

Is there a reason you are only looking at 20 series NVIDIA?

If it were me and I had a little more budget (and a large enough power supply) I'd look at a RTX 3080 or 3070. 3080 has a little more VRAM (10GB) which may make it a bit more futureproof than 8GB.

That said, I bought a RTX 2080 Super as used ones are readily available and fairly cheap for the level of performance (<$300) and reasonably powerful for VEGAS. 2080ti seemed overpriced then and less common. I bought for today rather than tomorrow and intend to sell and replace it at some point over the life of my desktop. You can see how it performs in the two benchmarks in my signature.

2060 and 2070 are slower so less futureproof, and the only reason to buy is related to budget.

@RogerS Thx For this info

The Answer to this Question "Is there a reason you are only looking at 20 series NVIDIA?"

The answer is No I just went and Google to find out about the NVIDIA GPU

My Vegas with the GPU is still working but then I run into problems like I did with the Video

I show you.

So If You tell me what GPU Will be the Best To buy I can make a plan for the money I just don't want to

upgrade my GPU every Year.

So I will go with what You suggest

Do you have a budget in mind? I think the models I suggested are all fine and on the cheaper end of good GPUs today. There are diminishing returns for performance and prices for the latest generation of AMD and NVIDIA GPUs are very high (at least for me).

You can also take any of those NVIDIA models and search for "AMD equivalent" and they may be somewhat cheaper for similar performance. For example the AMD 6800XT should be similar to a Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080. Both brands work well in VEGAS. You can see in the benchmarks in my signature how fast they can process Fx including the AI ones that this thread started with.

For reducing costs, personally I bought from Ebay and tried to read listings carefully to find a GPU that wasn't abused. Sellers that are clearly hobbyists (selling and buying other electronics and various items with good feedback) could be safer than ones that were used commercially.
