The Zoom H1 has a USB-2 interface. USB-3 is backwards compatible so it should work.. but not at the faster USB-3 speed.

The H1 2/0 firmware update introduced a new feature. When you plug the H1 into USB port you get an alternating display of 2 choices: Audio (H1 as USB microphone) or Read SD card). When connected to a USB 2 port both work fine. When connected to a USB 3 port only the audio option completes. On the Read SD Card option the drivers load but it does not complete.

here is the response from Samson tech support:

Unfortunately the H1 is not compatible with USB 3.0. Make sure that when you use the device it is plugged into a 2.0 port.

That's what card readers are for ;-)

Sorry to appear snarky, but some devices I own I seldom use the USB interface, but pull the card out and put in a reader ... works for me.

PS. thanks for the info on the update. My H1 was still at 1.02, but now it is 2.0

One of the new features in the 2.0 update is using the HI as a USB mike. Can't do that with a card reader ;)

Agreed, but in your case, all you can do is use the mic feature, not read the card via USB. 3

I dunno ... seems like you have two options:

1. Use a USB 2 port, or
2. Use a card reader that supports USB 3 (if you really need that speed)

A card reader is going to transfer faster than a device connection (recorder, camera) , in almost every circumstance.

Somewhere I did not make my point clear - sorry about that. I was interested in trying the H1 as a USB mike not transferring data. I too always use a card reader.

I understood you to say the audio worked with USB3, sorry.
