No, preview and trimmer use the same video monitor.
That's an interesting find. Yes, I can repro this behaviour mainly when an image is previewed from the Explorer window in the trimmer window, but not when an image has been dragged into the trimmer window.
As far as I am aware, it is only the Preview window that is meant to be zoomable, but not the trimmer window separately

I cannot confirm. As soon as preview window is zoomed, also the trimmer preview is zoomed, no matter how I bring a clip into trimmer.
