Does my Vegas Studio HD software allow me to zoom a video clip? Also, does it allow me to do a clip in slow motion? I have spent hours searching and cannot find where or how I can do this. I am starting to think it is not available in this program.
I have Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 9, not Vegas Movie Studio HD, so I'm not sure whether my advice is relevant. In Platinum, you use the Video Event Pan/Crop tool to zoom a video clip. There are three ways of accessing it. The first step is to bring a video event into the Vegas timeline. One way to access the Pan/Crop tool is to right click on the video event in the timeline you want to zoom, and then click the line on the popup menu that says Video Event Pan/Crop.
In Platinum, to play a clip in slow motion, you can right click on the clip in the timeline you want to slow down (or speed up), and click on the line on the popup menu that says Properties.... Then click the Video Event tab and adjust the Playback Rate field. If it is at 1.000 then it plays back at normal speed.
Let us know if Vegas Movie Studio HD has those capabilities and if they are accessed the same way as I described for Platinum. I'm curious whether Vegas Movie Studio HD is essentially the same as Vegas Movie Studio Platinum except minus the DVD Architect Studio program.
For zooming out and moving around on the screen (i.e. creating PIPs - although Pan/Crop can do this too), look at Track Motion.
Hold down the CTRL key, resize the event LONGER, and it will play in slow motion. (This adjusts the playback rate as the other poster mentioned but without having to go into the properties).
