Record/Playback button is grayed out

When the program starts, it checks to see whether there are working audio devices available for playback and recording. If no device is available for either one, the corresponding button is grayed out.

  • To resolve this issue, right-click the speaker icon in the bottom right-hand corner of your screen and select "Recording devices" or "Playback devices". 
  • Right-click any device and enable "Show disabled devices" and "Show disconnected devices". 
  • Then, right-click the device you want to use for playback or recording and enable it.
    The problem should be fixed the next time you start the program.
