Backup locations for all Vegas Pro templates, presets and settings!

Here is a list of the locations of each item in Vegas to back up when formatting your PC!

⭐ Favorite plugins from: VFX, Transitions and Media Generator:

%AppData%\VEGAS\VEGAS Pro\Favorite PlugIns

Copy the folder completely.

⭐ Window Layouts and Keyboard Map Customized:

%AppData%\VEGAS Pro\21.0

Just change the number at the end of the path to match your Vegas version.
Copy the folder completely.

⭐ General Preferences. Like: ram usage, track color, deprecated feature, auto save time, etc:

The file responsible for this information is "persist.prefs" located at:

%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\VEGAS Pro\21.0

Just change the number at the end of the path to match your Vegas version.
*However, to avoid problems, I recommend doing it the native way in Vegas.

To export. In vegas go to: Options>Export Preferences...
To import. In vegas go to: Options>Import Preferences...

⭐ Presets from: VFX, Transitions and Media Generator:

My Documents\OFX Presets

Copy the folder completely.

⭐ Render Templates:

%AppData%\VEGAS\Render Templates

Copy the folder completely (all subfolders and files).

⭐ Scripts:

Vegas built-in scripts:

C:\Program Files\VEGAS\VEGAS Pro 21.0\Script Menu

Just change the version to match your Vegas.

Ideal location:

My Documents\Vegas Script Menu

(putting in this folder, the scripts will work in any version of Vegas)

⭐ Extensions:

Ideal location:

My Documents\Vegas Application Extensions

⭐ Filter Package:

To export. In Regedit go to:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\DirectShow\Presets\FX Packages

In the left corner of the Window. Right-click the FX Packages folder and click Export. Save wherever you like. To import in the future.

To import: Just double-click the registry entry file in the folder you saved and confirm.

It is also necessary to copy the files from these folders:

%userprofile%\AppData\Roaming\VEGAS\FX Packages
%userprofile%\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\Sony\Prese

*It's not very safe to do it this way, it's better to use the Preset Manager.

Sony Preset Manager 2.0:

⭐ Project Properties Templates:

VP19 and earlier versions.

To export. In Regedit go to:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Sony Creative Software\VEGAS Pro\19.0\Metrics\VideoProProfiles

*Being the version you want to import.

In the left corner of the Window. Right-click the VideoProProfiles folder and click Export. Save wherever you like. To import in the future.

To import into same version of vegas: Just double-click the registry entry file in the folder you saved and confirm.

To import into a version prior to VP19: Right-click the registry entry file in the folder you saved it to and click edit.
On the line where you have:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Sony Creative Software\VEGAS Pro\19.0\Metrics\VideoProProfiles]

Change the version to which you want. (Remembering only versions prior to VP19.)
Save the file. Then just open it normally.
*This procedure can also be done to import pre-VP19 versions to later versions. Being limited up to version 19.

VP20.

To export. In Regedit go to:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\VEGAS Creative Software\VEGAS Pro\20.0\Metrics\VideoProProfiles

In the left corner of the Window. Right-click the VideoProProfiles folder and click Export. Save wherever you like. To import in the future.

To import into same version of vegas: Just double-click the registry entry file in the folder you saved and confirm.

To import from a version prior to VP20 to VP20: Right-click the registry entry file in the folder you saved it to and click edit. Replace the line where you have:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Sony Creative Software\VEGAS Pro\19.0\Metrics\VideoProProfiles]

For:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\VEGAS Creative Software\VEGAS Pro\20.0\Metrics\VideoProProfiles]

Save the file. Then just open it normally.
*This procedure can also be done in reverse to import from VP20 to versions prior to it

⭐ Toolbar organization, pan/crop & mask presets, track motion presets, etc:

VP19 and earlier versions.

To export. In Regedit go to:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Sony Creative Software\VEGAS Pro\19.0\Metrics\Application

*Being the version you want to import.

VP20.

To export. In Regedit go to:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\VEGAS Creative Software\VEGAS Pro\20.0\Metrics\Application

In the left corner of the Window. Right-click the Application folder and click Export. Save wherever you like. To import in the future.

To import: Just double-click the registry entry file in the folder you saved and confirm.

*I haven't tested if it's possible to import and export to different versions and vice versa. As I showed with the Project Properties Templates.
