RE: Importing large AVI files.
Thanks for all of the quick replies. It does appear to be Fraps. I think it dumps out an AVI about ever 4 gigs, so the Fat32 limitation won't be violated. My sata drive is NTFS. I later was able to load two of the 4 gig AVIs, but not the first one

RE: Importing large AVI files.
Also if these are two different machines then they might have different codecs installed on each. Vegas has also been known to not pick up codecs. It's possible that Vegas Pro was installed first, then the FRAP codec and Pro never noticed, then

RE: Importing large AVI files.
Wouldn't hurt to give some info about the files in question -- specifically, framesize and codec? I don't know much about FRAPs, but I believe it uses a propriety codec by default? That codec might be giving Vegas fits. I'm curious, too, why VP8

Importing large AVI files.
Hello all, I'm kinda new to Vegas and having a problem importing large AVI files. Anything larger than 2 gigs and Vegas pro 8.0 hangs. The really funny thing is if I import them into Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 8, I have no problem. I am using

RE: OT: Your Company/DEMO Website
I run and design my small site. Most media files are in state of flux and in secure directory only available by invite. I'm behind the times (haven't incorporated Flash in web design, etc.). That said, IMO, too much Flash wiring in a site design

RE: Streaming Video
I agree with Ivan, even if Popeye and the fireworks weren't there, I wouldn't miss them. Nicer fireworks would work though, and what I mean by that is more real looking, or real videoed fireworks. #2 I would fade out after 1 second when you Swirl

Workaround for crazy project open crash
I completed my first Vegas movie yesterday, and decided I wanted it in a different output format today, and I had a near coronary when Vegas crashed upon opening the project today. Every time. I tried the trick of moving the media files (because the

RE: Lockup test
laajr, that's really interesting, that we both have core 2 systems, and are both running with 2GB of ram. We should see what else we have in common. My specs are below. I'm mainly curious about your video card and motherboard. Do you have fraps

machine locks on me
I hope it's ok to post here. I'm simply polling to see if anyone is running Vegas or VMS with a system similar to mine (specs below). I'm trying to isolate whatever's causing my machine to lock up. I'm not going to post my whole nightmare history

RE: Machine locking up on me
Hey, I was thinking. My machine is pretty dang clean, but I did install Fraps. I used it for capturing some video from within World of Warcraft and the WoW Model Viewer. Fraps causes no problems on my son's computer, but again I have dual

RE: Machine locking up on me
Try single core - unfortunately, can't seem to do this, due to limited motherboard Turn video acceleration down - I haven't done this. Think it'll help? It would hurt games, but if it'll help VMS, I'm all for it. - I did turn off Write Combining

RE: Video Capture from laptop SVIDEO Out
I think that consensus opinion is more or less that to get the best quality TV signal out you need to use DV... Most if not all graphics card &/or chipsets give lesser quality & output fields that are not as distinct as DV. A separate scan

RE: VMS - Removing Unwanted Items From Scenes
I don't know if this'll be satisfactory in your case, but who knows. What if you use "track motion" or "pan and zoom" to move the visible part of your video such that the person isn't visible? Other than that, I don't know. Depending on your

Farss/Bob's posting seems to bring all the elements of this dilemma together in terms of trying to get a balanced perspective, so I'll use it as a response template: ------------ For what you're doing I think what thhe FCC mandates doesn't matter

This may or may not be necessary for your current project, but if you're looking for a quality yet affordable (under USD $40) application that does both "screenshot" and "video capture" -- try Fraps. Game developers use this to record hi-res

Since I've begun having problems using DivX within Vegas 7.0b, I've decided to perform some tests with various codecs to see their performance within Vegas. The source file that I was using for this test was an AVI generated using Google Earth

RE: PowerPoint to VIDEO
Try "fraps" from www.fraps.com. It is a high quality screen/window session to video capture program. Easy to use, good quality, allows video up to HD resolution. And -- it does not cost much ($37).
