Protune vs. Cineform in Vegas -- the Tests
Disclaimer: This thread is for the 1 or 2% of users who understand grading on a production level, and 8-bit vs. 32-bit float editing environments. Most users (including me) should not be using Protune for any kind of production, as was stated

RE: What TV card for Vegas Pro 13?
I have read on this forum (http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/forums/ShowMessage.asp?ForumID=4&MessageID=899893) that Blackmagic DeckLink Mini Monitor does not work with VP13. So propaby Intensity Pro will be the choice. Does Blackmagic is the

RE: What TV card for Vegas Pro 13?
Whether you can make your rig work has several issues. Be forewarned that BlackMagic has had no development in coop with Sony SCS since VegasPro9. Your card could work depending exactly on what motherboard etc you deploy. Not a task for the faint of

What TV card for Vegas Pro 13?
I'm planning to buy a video card + additional monitor. I would like to use the secondary monitor as an extension of my computer workspace. Also I would like to use it as an external TV. To use it as external TV, I'm planning to buy a Blackmagic

RE: DisplayPort trouble....
Yes, just checked every surface of the TV, and didn't found it. I believe that's the best location for HDMI input module, as in Page 14, but my version here has only TV Tuner, which should be placed on the rear side, as pictured in Page

RE: How to: capture screen & convert to B/W
I was able to add a Levels plug-in and make adjustments to get the desired effect. I also used my BlackMagic Intensity Pro to capture my laptop screen which generated a rather large but very legible AVI of the screen.

RE: How to: capture screen & convert to B/W
CamStudio appears to be bundled with malware, did not install. I think I will use my BlackMagic Intensity Pro to capture the video off of my laptop. I have had good success with it in the past, although it does generate some really big AVI files.

RE: Post workflow from PPro to Vegas Pro
@Nick Hope said "... It's a minefield" That's an understatement. And it's only getting worse - After more reading on the Blackmagic Cinema 4K camera, I've decided to shelve that idea. Although the reviews on image quality compared to the Red

RE: Post workflow from PPro to Vegas Pro
@Nick Hope - Had a chance to edit one of my paid gigs this past week in Vegas Pro. Taking the chance it would not have issues and given it had audio that was in serious need of cutting together, I opted to try Vegas Pro to see just how well it

RE: Odd bug: freeze when clicking on Master Bus window
Yes, VP12 was absolutely fine. I've had this audio setup for years now, it's been great with VP8,9,10,11,12!! Now, as for the preview output via Blackmagic Intensity to a TV - don't get me started :-( Cheers David

RE: Vegas Pro 12 to Resolve 11 Pro question
I am pretty old school in this regard, I prefer to import my camera footage into Resolve and grade it, then pass it on to Vegas for editing as a high quality intermediate, I do not use proxies. This goes back to my earlier days of grading film and

RE: Capturing DV-AVI via Vegas
+1 to everything John Cline posted. I agree with him that you get better results using an analog capture card instead of a DV/Firewire transfer, and indeed that is what I tried to use for many years. However, for consumer analog video formats, the

RE: Capturing DV-AVI via Vegas
I do a LOT of capturing of analog footage (1-inch, BetaCam, 3/4" and VHS/Betamax) for high quality digital archiving and this footage also ends up on DVD. I can often see the difference between video captured at 4:2:2 and 4:1:1, particularly on

RE: Capturing DV-AVI via Vegas
If you are using SD DV source for the capture - you cannot exceed the 4.2.0 native of the file codec. Yes, you could use BlackMagic but it will not offer you anything more than you have got. The most efficient will be the DV capture over standard

I teach Premiere Pro CC at a local university and use Vegas for most commercial projects. Vegas is more efficient, there's no doubt about that if you use both platforms. Premiere is built on the assumption that you will use the source monitor for

John222, Blackmagic has a Fusion forum on their site. There are a number of tutorials on the Blackmagic site as well as on YouTube. The best place to start is with Eyeon, the original owners. eyeon software After that, do a search for Digital Fusion

RE: OT: Blackmagic announces Fusion 7 for free
I don't know what the logic behind giving it away is. It is part of the business plan of Blackmagic. The founder, Grant Petty, has always espoused the view that many products are way overpriced, and he demonstrated this when Blackmagic took

I have downloaded it but not yet installed on my post machine. I note "Fusion requires Apple Quicktime to be installed on the workstation in order to read and write to the MOV and PNG file formats". I find no other references to video file format,

Bob, there is now a dedicated section on the Blackmagic forum for Fusion, and there are no posts in there (that I could find) that mention not being able to import common file types. See: http://forum.blackmagicdesign.com/viewforum.php?f=22

OT: Blackmagic announces Fusion 7 for free
There is a pro version for $995 but the basic version is free. The free version is not limited in any significant capacity with the exception that it doesn't offer support for 3rd party OFX plugins and it can't output resolutions higher than QHD. I
