Vegas choking on little projects
I'm getting desperate to find out why Vegas is choking on little projects. I'm typically editing very simple little 640 x 480 clips: one track, maybe an effect, one or two simple 1-second fade transitions, total running time of about 30

RE: OT: Good article Blu Ray vs HD DVD
It's surprising that there are so many HD-DVD movie titles available (160+), yet I can't recall ever having seen a single HD-DVD player advertised by a local retailer... Why? =========== Toshiba is the only company that makes a standalone player.

RE: Anyone recommend some render settings for 8mm
I've reduced the screen size down a little. They were grainy 8mm's to begin with so blowing them up on a 36" tv won't look that great anyway. I'm running a test at VBR using a max =6 ave=5 min=192. Three of the five files are about 38 minutes

RE: Sonic announces affordable BluRay authoring
I have just successfully burned my first HD DVD video using Ulead DVD Movie Factory 5 and Nero 7 onto a standard dvd. It was a short CGI file created with Vue 5 and edited with Vegas 7b. I rendered using 1440 x 1080 60i mpeg2 program file, not

RE: Is Vegas REALLY robust enough for audio work?
I also have had terrible audio stutter with Vegas 6 and SIR and Ambience reverbs, I have 48 tracks, many plugins used [ mostly Sony ] processor seems to max at about 60 percent but still get stutter. Using P4 3.0 1 gig ram audigy 2ZS card onboard

RE: No audio from laptop firewire out
All you need is one more cable. A 6' or 12' 1/8" stereo to dual RCA cable connected between the laptop headphone jack and the TV will take care of it for you. These can be had at Wal*Mart or Radio Shack for under $10. Compared to the firewire card,

I don't have any Intel DC to compare, but I just upgraded my AMD machine to another and am quite pleased with the performance improvements. Old Configuration, Render Time: 3m 52s or 232s AMD Athlon XP 1.29 GHz 1GB RAM WinXP Pro Version 2002 SP2,

Producing WMV-HD for Kiss DP-600
Ok, after having spent nearly one week of my life and hundreds of hours rendering time trying to get a WMV-HD file out of Vegas that would play back smoothly on my new Kiss DP-600 HD-player I think somebody might take advantage of my findings, so

RE: OT: pc reboots often, locks up..driver ideas?
OK, Ken let's keep it simple:- #1 - You have lots of AV ware working? #2 - During Summer? Hot? Overheating PC? #3 - Get another PC and run your other AV stuff on that. PCs are cheap. Your time aint. Factor in the ROI on several "other" PCs and

RE: Capturing Analog Video (HI8)
When you say "system" you don't say whether this is a deck, or your PC. If it is a canopus drive-bay analogue->DV converter - then great - that would be about the same as the Pyro AV Link (props for the model 555). The best way wasn't

No I do not do HD and there are's norhing I want for SD editors. I moved to v6 from V5 because 1-I liked AV sync feature 2-DVDA3 cleared the MPEG2 bug which bugged(!) me in V5.0d. But for me: V6 is slower than V5

Grazie ! - What you and other contributers said was useful and meaningful to the consumer and forum but was less than accurate for me the engineer to pass by. I don't think I've set out to change the message, but to set the record straight. USB2

RE: Checking AC3 audio
You may be able to use your DVD playing software to play the AC3 file. I use Cyberlink PowerDVD XP and it will play AC3s quite happily - just drag and drop the file onto the player window. This pipes the AC3 bitstream out of the digital output on

Okay, took a look at AVS and got some ideas. I am looking at this model: Samsung LN-S4052D - B&H has it for 2500.00, Tigerdirect has it for 1899.99 and I found another site (Soureceoneaudio.com) that has it for 200 cheaper. It has HDMI,
