RE: Editing and Hard Drives
Because harddrive manufacturing is an ever-changing source and model number change in distribution ..and not to mention assembly batching as well it is hard to find a place where you can evaluate that drive a is better than b. Occassionally a few

RE: Loading VHS Clips
Get a Viewcast 100 or 100e, depending on your interface. Viewcast makes the most rock solid analog capture cards on the market. Load the drivers and select the card inside Vegas capture program. Works seamlessly with MS Encoder too, when you just

RE: OT: New GoPro 3+ Sees Red
Does it actually matter? The use of the ProTune mode suggests you are going to grade the material anyway. Try looking at the output of the Blackmagic Pocket camera in RAW mode, it is nearly monochrome.

RE: IBM Motion JPEG
Another free motion JPEG add on is the blackmagic software. You can just install the software even if you do not have a device. Vegas see this and the software does not time out or look for hardware. Just a thought.

Blackmagic thunderbolt with Vegas
Has anyone used a BM intensity I/O box with Vegas? My new mobo (asus Z87) has a thunderbolt port that I would like to use for monitoring and very rare importing of video. I don't want to spend 4 times as much for an AJA box. Thanks

RE: Mac an Win mixed NLE environment
What JohnnyRoy said, Except I actually have a PC that I boot into Mac on (a Hackintosh). When I built it I couldn't buy a Mac with the specs I wanted- 3930k, 32gb ram, room for 8 internal HDD, multiple esata for external raid drives etc. Just have

RE: Magic Bullet Looks 2 and Vegas 12
Another issue with Looks and Vegas is that if you have a Blackmagic Intensity card and use the external monitor preview from within Looks interface the black levels jump about 7.5 IRE. This is reflected in the scopes and makes accurate grading

RE: Colorfast?
I own it and learned a lot about the secondary features in the webinar so I will be using it more often. The great feature in my book is the integration within Vegas which gives you instant feedback. I love Magic Bullet Looks but having to go in

k, testing out some 4k footage from the new BlackMagic 4k camera.... Vegas defaults to 8-bit.... and that is fine... my monitor is set to display 16-235 (generally speaking) for editing mode. the 4k footage is shot "FLAT" as expected to color

Vegas Pro 12 Rebooting
I have Vegas Pro 12 Build 770, 64 bit with a Blackmagic Intensity Pro capture card. It is listed in Vegas as the capture card but when I click on 'capture video' in Pro 12 it simply reboots. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Pro 12 with same

RE: Edit / Grading Monitor
Oldsmoke, yes, it appears that Vegas thru the preview output does not allow more than 8bits. It has also been true that in the past the hook up of BlackMagic when supported (upto Version 9 VPro officially) that BlackMagic offered pass thru of 10bit

RE: 10-bit color displays - impossible in Vegas 12?
Could be that you are confusing several things in the manner of getting 10bits. 1) a hardware chain that is able to pass and display 10bits of info from a file that has inside of its container 10bits of information. A) Does your video monitor

10-bit color displays - impossible in Vegas 12?
I've just upgraded by setup with nVidia K5000 cards and Dell 10-bit Ultrasharps connected via DisplayPort 1.2. 10-bit color is working great in Photoshop and Premiere Pro. However, testing reveals higher bit depth settings in Vegas still only gives

They are a relatively new development and are gaining rapid favour among owners of the Blackmagic range of cameras, particularly the MFT equipped Cinema and Pocket Cinema cameras, as way to utilise the full coverage of the cropped sensors. The BM

RE: Intensity Shuttle USB-3 and Vegas
Yeah I agree. I think the mindset is that BlackMagic makes cards for other peoples software. When in fact the Shuttle is a DVR meant to be a component apart of a larger live video system. Like the live video switching gear or the cameras they

RE: Intensity Shuttle USB-3 and Vegas

RE: Will this RAW recorder work with Vegas 12 & NX5?
Atomos make their own SDI-HDI converter and Blackmagic also makes a very small converter. I do however believe that the HDMI output on the NX5U also has 422 like the one on the Z5U but I cant confirm it. Bob is however right too, the Z5U and NX5

RE: Will this RAW recorder work with Vegas 12 & NX5?
I suspect the Shuttle will not record RAW. I think I have heard this before, and I could not find any reference to RAW recording on the B&H or Blackmagic sites. Uncompressed and RAW are two very different things. Also, I did not see any
