I'm just waiting for the obligatory "upgrade offer" email. :-)
violet wrote on 4/17/2014, 2:20 AM
Well on initial reading it seems to me to be not worth upgrading. I am already subscribing to Adobe so I have a number of options and access to some great plugins. The audio can all be handled in Sonar (Tascam) with very sophisticated inbuilt or very reasonably priced plugins re loudness meters. Project Archiving usually has one big trap and that is if you upgrade a plugin the parent file will spit the dummy. No NewBlue Titles (unless i missed it). The usual included 3rd party software that generally is lucky to stick around for 2 releases.

Hopefully someone more knowledgeable than me can see why this is a major release and not just an update.

While I have supported Sony Creative Software over the years I have found recently that collaborating on a project with a MAC Adobe lets us work easily without any major OS hiccups.

Sorry Sony Creative Software but you will have to actually innovate by producing permanent FX features such as GenArt and BorisFX standard into the product as at the moment it feels more like a lucky dip as to what comes with the product rather than what is built into Vegas and the user knows it will be in the next version with possible additional sophistication.

In the announcement Vegas 13 would be bundled with NewBlue VE VI (6).

In the download only the NewBlue VE IV (4) is shown...

... when you download it, however, the NewBlue installer says VE 6.

My SCS email just shows (e.g.) a Pro upgrade price of US$ 149.95.
Spectralis wrote on 4/17/2014, 3:08 AM
I haven't received and email yet. Upgrade is $249.95 on Sony's site. No VP12 Suite upgrade - just an upgrade from VP12 to VP13 Suite. What was the point of buying the suite if it can't be upgraded?

Also, Hitfilm FX are out and upgrade for Ultimate owners is $359. Still haven't received an email from them either.

Hi,

Official price in EU for the upgrade to Vegas Pro 13 from Vegas 12 is 235.54 € (189.95 € ex VAT).

So, where is my email with the special price? I'm a registered user, my email is registered with SCS, I even logged in on the automatic mailing list that is supposed to inform us when VP13 becomes available. Nothing yet... Definitively I am not going to pay 236€ for the upgrade!!!

Anyone here in Europe that have received a special discounted price by email? Grazie?

Christian

Christian, I'm in FI as well and as I posted earlier, did receive the special upgrade email this morning. The upgrade from VPro 12 to VPro 13 is 109.95 € ex VAT, valid through May 31. The Suite is 219.95 € ex VAT. I'd expect you'll get the email soon enough.
edit: clicking the upgrade in "My Software" showing the 236€, did give me the lower price. I did not go through the whole process to see if it would be the same in the checkout though.

I got a mail in the UK, following the link I get in UKP

£89.95 ex vat for Vegas Pro upgrade on it's own

@grazie - 13/290

i'm not doing anything much with it at the moment - and it's only on my laptop, but in all honesty i really can't say there's anything outstanding about it - especially the tl toolbar, which as convenient as it is is not fully customizable, that is, you can't add anything other than vegas's own options.

i'm going to try it on my nle rig tomorrow night (have an all day shoot tomorrow) just to see if it cures my render as problem. if it does then i might simply uninstall 12 and try a reinstall and see if i get render as back again under 12 - problem is i'm in the middle of a couple of large projects and don't really have the time to push it. (and yes, everything's imaged ;-))

as it is i haven't as yet got the discount offer, but if it is $150 then i'll probably spring for it - after all, it's not exactly much in the scheme of things and there might well be things under the bonnet that i / we have no idea about that'll make it all worthwhile.

i'm looking at the basic module (edit only) - have no use for cloud, ipad, and nb giveaway is pretty pointless as i already have it. as for fxhome, i have more plugins than i'll ever use, genarts, bcc, et al.

SVP12 suite user here.. I have to say this has to be the least impressive upgrade I've ever seen coming out of SCS.. very mediocre, nothing groundbreaking.. a MAC announcement might have got me excited a little. I guess SCS development has reached it's peak.

"very mediocre, nothing groundbreaking"

That is your opinion based on your workflow, but Vegas Pro Connect, XAVC Intra MXF smart rendering, the loudness meters, the enhanced project archiving and the multi-tool pop-up menu are more than enough to get me to upgrade.

still waiting for an email offer, so tried a demo only, and even tho the list of 'improvements / features' isnt indeed impressive, i'm just hoping that it's due to the fact that they maybe listened to the feedback asking first of all for stability.

i tried a little project with 4K files from Black Magic that in v12 after loading more then 30 files wasnt showing videos (either showing the files as an audio only, or black frames only), it loaded perfectly in v13 and is working fine.

it loaded faster as well, and the playback was ~2fps faster (11 vs 9 at Best/full)

would be nice if it was rock solid... at last

Hmm.

Vegas Pro 12 - 231.8MB

Vegas Pro 13 - 376.7MB

I'm pretty sure this is just the editor. If so that's a huge increase.
cal79 wrote on 4/17/2014, 8:56 AM
I also find it strange to have no full upgrade offer for VP12 Suite users?

If a mailserver sends mass e-mails like this newsletters, it cannot send them in one go. It must sent a very limited amount of mails and then wait for a certain time before it can send the next ones. Dependend on the amount of mails this may last several days until everyone is reached.
Spectralis wrote on 4/17/2014, 9:09 AM
Lets hope Vegas Cloud works better than Vegas mail server then. :)
