RE: Is mp4 audio in QT export fixed in VMS11?
If the crash is because of Quicktime, then it's a quicktime bug. The reason why the documented trick does not work in 64bit Windows is because you have the 64bit of Quicktime installed. You'd need to force your quicktime to install in 32bit for its

    RE: Crashes while rendering. Lots.
Use MainConcept mpeg4, it's more stable, and it has VBR support that allows for better quality than Sony AVC. Don't bother with WMV, it's not as well supported by TV devices like h.264 is.

Comparison of Vegas Pro Deinterlacing Methods
I did a comparison of deinterlacers (1080-60i to 1080-30p) using Stringer's driving clip (thanks Gregory!). Edit: On my computer, Firefox is zooming these pics which makes it impossible to compare. These should be 750px wide. If they are not then

RE: 50% Savings on Upgrade to Vegas Pro
I am considering it too. BUT Vegas does not have full acceleration as CS5 has. That is why I don't want to pay for it yet. I can save on less powerful hardware. I also found that they charge another 250$ for Vegas proX to Vegas proY. So for version

What an interesting discussion this has been. I don't even know why anyone would bother comparing Avid to Vegas. They truly are not comparable products. They are targeted at completely different markets with totally different needs. Anyone who

RE: How do you pros get anything done with this thing?
I agree with most posters here, this is probably an issue caused by your system, and not Sony Vegas. Myself I had a bunch of crashes when rendering in Vegas, and it turned out that my RAM voltage was too low. My ASUS mobo has a software utility that
