RE: Nvidia App Beta: AV1 Recordings cannot be imported - VP21
@Howard-VigoritaI am on Vegas 21 Build 315So I used media info, in short the Nvidia made AV1 has a different codec id and is missing the encoder info. This is the AMD made AV1:  Format                                   : MPEG-4Format profile

FWIW I can encode to AV1 using ffmpeg and VP. Using VP: only via CPU. Using ffmpeg: Using CPU and ..GPU's ... Intel, AMD and Nvenc using older "PC 1" and main "PC 2". See signature. @johnny-s I didn't realize there was an av1 difference between

@johnny-s I think it's the faster setting, which has no place in an NLE as a default encoding setting except maybe 8K. Resolve has such a bad name as far as H.264 encodes, now they want same award for HEVC and AV1

@RogJ if your setup is high performance enough, capture hevc which is similar in quality to av1 but more mature. Av1 and hevc require similar resources for playback. The only real advantage of av1 is that unlike hevc and avc, it's royalty free. But

Currently one phone model shoots AV1, which is somewhere short of a mandate. We'll see.

RE: AV1 render fails w/ "The reason for the error could not be determined"
ACES support seems to be having issues during the rebuild of the video engine (strange interactions with the color grading panel, the default space not working right for me, etc.) Odd that it's only failing with AV1 though (and that doesn't even use

To confirm, are you rendering to AV1 or AVI ? For peer support, especially this time of year, please provide all of the required information, including your render

I just tried the Rigaya NVencc64 encoder on my 4090 with a simple command line to render an av1 clip and vp21 b315 and b208 both recognized and played it fine. I used the latest Rigaya encoder built on ffmpeg 6.1 libs. The good news for you is that

Also are you now on team AV1? The VMAF don't lie @Todd-AO Ha, ha, the numbers don't lie but statisticians do all the time. If you're trying to evaluate encoding from a camera, your reference has to be from the same source... lossless from the

I agree with @john_dennis that AV1 is a delivery codec, good quality at low bitrates (high compression), nice for streaming and video delivery platforms. For editing, a production codec, high quality at high bitrates (low compression), is

For what I do its, literally screen recording.AMD and Nvidia software solutions are the fastest, least resource consuming, as the encoders / decoders are hardware on the card. AMD ReLive Or the Nvidia App / GeForce experienceNether offers native

@Gid You are getting AV1 encodes at 1080P so that's a good sign you get high quality VP9 at 1080P @Former user Thanks, why does your image show the av01 & mine says vp09 in UHD & 1080p? Or is this a dumb question & I'm missing

    RE: My Journey To AV1
P.S. Sure AV1 is more modern, with more features and so provides better quality. I'm not arguing that.  To me it's not better quality, but just same quality at lower bitrates/smaller filesizes. It's all about keeping the quality of the original

I just did a test render using the VP20 ad benchmark project in my signature and it completed though with artifacts. I did a second render with a mixture of 8 and 10-bit footage to AV1. No glitches or failure. Could you share a sample project with

    Magix AV1 rendering issues

Is it just cool to say “I’m using AV1!”? @john_dennis It's big advantage is high quality at lower bitrates, out performing AVC and HEVC, which makes it ideal for screen recording and streaming. When you think about Vegas users of 2024, a very

@Howard-Vigorita I used a a Prores Raw file converted to Prores4444 the results are the same, they're all very similar. Maybe it's a Resolve bug to do with decoding your specific file, but your results are not indicative of the average results a

RE: Vegas Pro 21 Comparison av1 with avc
@GJeffrey That's one of the software AV1 encoders I believe, that's not something people would typically use, You want results for NVENC, Intel, and AMD AV1 (if AMD has AV1) . I have tried the AV1 NVENC encoder and was a bit annoyed that with a

RE: VEGAS Pro 21 Build 300 General Thread
But why should someone grade av1? Even if I appreciate that you find something positiv! av1 is an open-source royalty-free codec intended to be an alternative to hevc which is burdened by heavy patent royalties. Avc is also patent-burdened but the

@Howard-Vigorita Did you find the same high quality for NVENC HEVC? I did notice AV1 uses more NVENC processing and thus lower speed compared to HEVC, but this is a good thing if quality is even higher. From what I've been able to deduce from task

@vagnerdesouza I don't want to be rude but the GTX 1050 isn't capable of decoding AV1 so there is something wrong with your decoding test: https://developer.nvidia.com/video-encode-and-decode-gpu-support-matrix-new I am not recommending a new GPU.

Someone should post a downloadable Nvidia av1 sample... maybe developers will see it and do something about it. Don't have ShadowPlay or the new app myself.

@marcinzm Hi, Magix Movie Studio (totally different program) says this about AV1, & general talk online there's mentions of the need of Graphics cards that are compatible with AV1, I don't know if this is true with Vegas.
