12 hours and no major bug?

@LReavis, A.Grandt

I wasn't aware of the issue when copy media is used with image sequences since I don't use this feature. The problem I refer to has been discussed in this thread..

@musicvid

well... it's not really peak hold. The meters go up and they don't come down again until playback is stopped.

It's really weird because all the other VU meters work like they should.

All I'm seeing is a slower decay on the PPM -- it's probably correct.
I just read on the internet that PPM specifies a 1.5 sec decay for 20dB, while VU drops off much faster.

Looking at all the buzz on the forum, and no big showstoppers, I think the folks at Sony must be pretty happy right now . . .

hmmmm the meters seem to be working now after a couple of program restarts.

I've noticed a couple of quirks with the new meter display - notably one of the meters taking a while to light up -- could be a graphics memory thing.

And Vegas 10 looks very good!

But I cannot render the alpha channel to PNGs! Can you try?
Just have one single track, and mask out a portion of the image, or just crop it. When I do this in Vegas 9, I get transparent PNGs. In Vegas 10, they are opaque. Is it only me?

Nope, PNG/ALPHA working just fine for me, both preview and render.
Might want to check your Project Media Properties. Should probably say "Straight Unmatted."
ingvarai wrote on 10/12/2010, 12:32 PM
I found out about it.
I must have the project settings Pixel format set to 32 bit in Vegas 10 in order to render PNGs with alpha. Has this changed from Vegas 9? Because in V9 I can render transparent PNGs with 8bit pixel format.
Can anyone confirm this? I really want to use 8-bit because of the long render times with 32 bit.

No, works perfectly here in 8-bit projects. I just rendered one to check.
Doing a Ctrl+Shift while opening Vegas will reset everything to default.
Did you check your project media properties? Can you post your PNG?
Gotta go.
ingvarai wrote on 10/12/2010, 1:09 PM
I did this:

- Started Vegas 10 doing Ctrl+Shift and answered Yes to reset all to factory settings.
- Added 1 track, put a solid color on it, and applied a mask.
- Rendered out to PNG image sequence

Did exactly the same with Vegas 9.
I copied one Vegas 9 image and one Vegas 10 image to a separate folder, just to show you:

As you see, Vegas 10 does not render the alpha channel. I do not know what more I can do! Can this be related to GPU rendering?

When apply a VideoFX, I can't see the little arrow called Pre/Post Toggle. I need this feature. Any help would be appreciated, thank you.
kkolbo wrote on 10/12/2010, 4:34 PM
The little arrow is gone. Now, if you look at the top of the dialog box, you will see the the pan/crop shown as a part of the FX chain. You can position that in the chain by dragging it to where you want it in the process. That performs the same function as the old arrow, only more flexible. When the FX is applied to a track, you will see a composite box icon that you can drag into the order that you want. That also replaces the arrow.

Sorry if it is hard to understand what I have written. Gawd bless oxycodone.

Thank you, kkolbo, it's working.

@ A. Grandt: "If your project contains still-image sequences or segmented .r3d files, do not select the Copy media with project check box in the Save As dialog. Some frames or segments may not be saved when this check box is selected."

Thanks for the info. Actually, I've been having trouble saving with "copy media" in V9 when I have image sequences. Very sad to hear that I can't do this in v10 either. I usually have dozens of stills, and need that feature in order to create the credits list.

Okay, here's a bug, albeit a minor one.

When tabbing thru the new keyframe timeline, the cursor will display in oddball places (i.e. outside the timeline). Ideally, I'd like to see the timeline horizontal slider move with the cursor if you tab outside the viewable area.

Is that one where the answer is "That is not a bug, that is a feature." That is odd behavior.
