3D problems aaargh!

3d87c4 wrote on 11/16/2013, 6:46 PM
When I add Cineform Studio 2.0 AVI 3D clips to my Sony Vegas 12 pro time line some of the clips are black---sometimes it's the left video, sometimes the right, sometimes both. It seems to be somewhat random---restarting Vegas and starting over sometimes changes which clips are bad.

I'm not sure what, if anything I'm doing wrong. This all seemed to be working a few weeks ago, and I'm not sure what has changed. I believe I'm using the latest updates to Studio 2.0 and Vegas & may have installed these updates since I last used Vegas...I can't be sure.

Windows 7, 64 bit, 32GB ram.

How do I start debugging this?

A good start is to fill out your system specification including driver version for your video card.
What could have changed is an automatic Windows Update that installed a new driver version or other components.

update: I have exported the clips from Cineform Studio 2.0 as MOV's instead of AVI's and am able to import them into Vegas and to the timeline intact. Vegas crashed frequently in the process, but I think if I save often I can get the video edited.

I'm perplexed why the AVI work flow went bad on me & would appreciate further suggestions.

So far so good...I've got the MOV's all edited & just need to add some music and titles.

Vegas has crashed twice trying to view the result, though! Not sure how it will behave when I try the final render.

I'd still appreciate your inputs on debugging this further...

upgraded to the latest build

Added music and titles

Vegas crashes most of the time just trying to watch it

Have tried various tricks I've found here, set preview ram to zero, CPU only during render, clear unused media...more that I can't even remember (it's late).

I managed to watch it through once.

It has failed to render on every attempt, mostly it crashes,a couple of times it just stopped progressing. The furthest it would get through a render was ~75%.

I'm baffled. Vegas worked fine for a month, now it's useless.

Would someone please pipe up and give me some help?

If you are turning ON the automatic Windows Update, it's possible that this is the issue. (not NVidia driver)

Try having system restore to time of stable condition... and if this is successful, turn off the Windows Update...

I've contacted Sony and GoPro support---I really think this is related to the files coming out of Studio 2.0...

Honestly, I've gotten in more trouble with windows update disabled to go that route.

If you get the AVI to crash again in b765, put my name in the error report comments and I'll take a peek to see if it's something we can fix in Vegas or not.

Here is my incident number 131120-000048

I am getting crashes with the MOVs using B765---most of the time when I view the video and every time I try to render.

It occurred to me this morning that one change between when Vegas worked for me and now was the B726 installation.

What I need to know immediately is what information you/Sony need to help debug this.

I have a separate support query going with GoPro, as I'm concerned the problem may be related to the files they are generating. I bought Vegas because the MP4's their new Studio 2.0 created were incompatible with my old video editor (Pinnacle 16).

Do the support folks have access to these crash reports?

I imagine they can tell you more about the problem than I can.

I'm suspicious of the Cineform/Vegas interaction, but am not sure how to debug it.

I sent some files to GoPro, but they can't see anything wrong. I haven't received any reply from Sony to my incident at all.
