@John
I downloaded your version but somehow your aspect ratio is off. I am missing portions of the image top and bottom.

That was an aesthetic decision I made. I don't think the foot of the stage and the stage lighting is that interesting. I cropped to the clip to 3840x1600.

Here's a version that's not cropped.

If this is original 4K camera video, then you should use the MainConcept MPEG-2 DVD Architect 24p NTSC widescreen video stream render template. That template matches your frame rate and will perform the correct 23.976 + 2-3 pulldown.

Edit: Musicvid asked for camera video, not youtube and not a clip that you converted with a third party conversion program, WinX HD Video Converter Deluxe. Now, there is the possibility of frame rate conversion having taken place in that application. That just clouds any other issues you may have. Take the camera, point it at your cat for 10-20 seconds and post the clip directly from the camera to your One Drive.

The SD video I posted was from a DVD prepared in DVD Architect. I renamed the .VOB file from the DVD folder.

Not to hijack but I also experience issues with 4K footage. If I try to turn it into an MP4 from Xavc, I get this, for the lack of a better term, squiggly, water like noise in my picture and it's more noticeable when the subject is moving. I understand that most deliverables are still in HD, but 4K is coming fast and I want to be proficient with its workload.

John, the original footage was 30FPS. I can see that the converter rendered to wrong fps setting. I didnt know of a quick way to cut out 30 seconds of the clip and post. I figured if I used Vegas, it would want to re-render even though I would choose the same format to render to. Am I incorrect? If so, I can redo the clip through vegas and repost.

Edit: I will shoot a 10-20 second clip on the camera and post. Might be easier...

I have loaded a 30 second piece up to this link directly from the camera. I included vertical movement and horizontal movement plus a pan. 4K 30FPS Progressive, 70MBPS

Just played a SD DVD rendered/created from DVDA to SD 60i from MP2 created from Vegas in 30P DVDA widescreen video stream. I rendered 4K to HD then re-rendered HD to MP2 in Vegas. The final product is very usable. I will make the final DVD's from this re-render. The re-render removed the edging from the text as well as any 'jaggies' or aliasing from any movement of the dancers. Lesson learned - I will now just shoot HD for a master and render down to MP2 for an SD DVD. Hopefully sometime, someone will come up with a quick workflow to make this easier and quicker, although as has been mentioned, you lose so much in the down conversion from 4K to SD that it is not wise to shoot in 4k in the first place if you are going to SD DVD as the final product. I will be interested to know how John comes out with the test piece I uploaded that he asked for.

Here is link to clip of final re-render on DVD.

I rendered the file six ways to Sunday. This is a form of perverse entertainment for me. I found more difference between Blu-ray player/TV combinations than I found between different render methods. The Sony BDP-BX58 attached to an LG plasma looked consistently poor with all methods. The Sony BDP-S790 attached to a Sony XBR 4K TV managed to pass for all of the methods except the 30p to 24p conversion that I did. If you want to see for yourself, you can download a DVD folder to burn to a DVD-RW in DVD Architect. I used the "extras" folder to add a 1080-30p version in the root of the DVD. This file won't be on dropbox forever, so don't delay.

Thanks for the clip comparisons John! Yes, it does get a bit perverse at times! :)
