Affiinity Photo - Half Price

Since most Vegas users import photos at one time or another, there is usually a need for Photo Editing software. While Photoshop IMHO remains the app of choice, Affinity Photo is a very good alternative and less costly than $10 a month since it is a one-time purchase with lifetime updates.

At the moment all of their products including Affinity Designer (which I use quite frequently) and Affinity Publisher are half price--$25, which is a real bargain.

+1. This is a real bargain. I have all three. For those that don't know, the killer feature of this suite of products is total integration. They all use the same file type, and so you are, for example, able to use Photo and Designer functions within Publisher without opening these programs separately.

I have Photo Shop 7 and the free 'Paint dot Net' which is intuitive (like Vegas) and adequate most of the time. Hundreds of free third-party effects plug-ins as well.

It has been in my radar for sometime, and since I still in Photoshop CS5 for Photo & Image works, plus opensource Inkscape for vectorscope works (or at least just converting CorelDraw / Illustrator format) - I haven't been able to experiment with both of them.

What feature of Affinity edition compared to application I'm currently using?

As someone who's used to Photoshop, I get frustrated hunting for Photoshop features in Affinity Photo, or finding that they don't exist. I could never get it to show WYSIWYG colors; No matter what I try, the Affinity Photo colors always look different from the end result on the web or in my other viewers, so that killed it for me. I was hoping upgrades might resolve that, but I'm unable to upgrade past 1.65, because version 1.7 requires .NET 4.7.2, which my Windows Pro 10 v1511 does not support. Having said that, it's cheap, and there's a free 90-day trial. Can't say fairer than that. I might give GIMP another go at some point.

Affinity Photo is a very good photo editing app but has a steep learning curve. I find many simple things are not really straight forward. I use Paintshop Pro and Gimp when I want to get things done quick. The bright side with Affinity Photo is there are a lot of tutorials if you have/take the time to research. 50% off is a great deal for this app.
