"An error occurred while saving one or more files. There is no licens

I just bought Vegas Pro 14 with the Humble Bundle. After using it a bit, I finally wanted to use it for a project. However, after I click open or save once, I get this message when I try to do it again;

"An error occurred while saving one or more files. There is no license to use this software."

I have tried uninstalling and de-authorizing my computer from using the software. Nothing has worked so far, and there is little to go by online. Any tips?

Windows 7
Build 270

What video format were you trying to save your video files as? I seem to remember that there used to be a separate license for MPEG2 video file codec which was a separate license from the actual Vegas one.

I can't even get to that part, so I know that the format has nothing to do with it :(

Are you connected to the Internet when that happens? I believe there are 3 codecs that regularly check their license via the internet.

As per this comment from MAGIX:

For those experiencing the "There is no license to use this software" error message, please create a support ticket so we can assist you in troubleshooting the issue. https://support2.magix.com/customer/vegas

Please include the app name, version number, build, and serial number when creating the ticket.

Yes, I am connected to the internet at all times. And I have already opened a ticket, but have heard negative things regarding MAGIX technical support and wanted to ask the greater community.

It's a mysterious, sporadic issue that is very hard to diagnose and troubleshoot. This Google search for this site for the past year will show several posts but unfortunately few solutions:

It seems like it worked when I reinstalled vegas completely

I remember the nagging of Magix to update to vegas 15 right after I bought the 14 from the humble blundle. So to stop the nagging I disabled the access of the vegas 14 program in the windows 7 firewall. (Through Norton firewall mind you). Didn't use the program for a few months. So later I was googling as to why I was getting this error message when suddenly I remember the most likely why. Yep, unblocked and allowed access in the firewall and presto! no more error. Worth checking your firewall rules or access. Of course, right away unfortunately the nagging is back. Hope this helps
