Support is the official place to help customers. If there are technical problems, I would consider contacting the official support at first place. They get paid to help you.
Also databases are made via official support. Using forums like this for reporting technical problems often will leave the problems unknown to the staff.
A tester would use quite a different channel.

If you are willing to post about a problem here, why not report the product to support staff, who can actually fix it?
I can open files successfully in Sony Sound Forge Pro 11.0 (build 299) from VEGAS Pro 14.0 (build 161) and also from my older VP12 and 13. But during my testing I did run into the same old " elevated priveleges " issue as Wolfgang, solved by using the steps in the same link he provided, which were (in case that gets removed):
"In the Registry Editor, navigate to the following directory:
Problem solved. I did not run the program as administrator. I changed it and now at both possibilities SoundForge 11 opens with the audio. 👍 😀
Which program did you change to run as administrator? Vegas or Sound Forge? As far as I know, you shouldn't have to run either as administrator. I don't believe I do and it works for me.
Which program did you change to run as administrator?
Vegas Pro 14
Works fine now
That's a useful workaround but it's not a universal solution. When I run VP13 as administrator (in Windows 10), my Contour Shuttle Pro 2 and the 2 thumb buttons on my mouse (that I use to play/pause and delete) become disabled in that instance of VP13. Also I can't drag files to it from external programs including Windows File Explorer.
