Apply YADIF.... script: warning

Just a heads up.
The script and YADIF has been a real boon for me but I just realised there's a trap. It changes everything to progressive and nothing I could find within Vegas would reveal what the true media properties are. That's after I went through the project and removed the plugin from all media.

What really has me scratching my head was I tried "Match Project Properties To Media" and my V13 Project was still set to Progressive. That's pretty confusing as here we're pointing Vegas to an original source media file. Obviously the script doesn't change the media file.

I must confess I normally edit with project matched to media and then and only then when it's all done Apply YADIF and save the project with a different name. In this case I failed to do that. I'll be more careful in future but that's quite a trap.

Bob.

Not quite with you Bob.

I sometimes use that plugin (assuming we're talking about this, usually when I want to a still frame-grab from an interlaced file, but I normally use it at track or event level. I just tried adding it as a on a DV file as a Media FX, as I assume you are doing. When I then match my project properties to that file, the project properties are still interlaced DV as you'd expect.

Or have I got the wrong end of the stick?

Hi Nick,
using the plugin that way no problem but on the same page as your link there's also a script mentioned; 'Apply Yadif to All Media.cs', that comes in the package. Using that is what causes the issue I found.

The script applies the plugin as a Media FX and changes all media to Progressive.
