Atomos Ninja V files and Vegas pro compatiblity

I'm thinking of getting the Atomos Ninja V and I have got to the point where I think it will not be worth it because I can't tell if ANY of the output files will work with Vegas Pro without converting them to another codec first - which would be very very inconvenient.

Can someone tell me if any of the following codecs are supported by Vegas pro because I've been on a wild goose chase about this question on google for a good while now:

(Source file will be 2160p60, 10 bit, HLG, 4:2:0 or 4:2:2)

ProRes 422, LT, HQ
DNxHR HQ, HQX, SQ, LB

I'm leaning towards DNxHR HQX from what I have seen and the file sizes are acceptable with a 4TB SSD.

I could use Davinci Resolve to convert it to another codec as I use that program to make a LUT for my HLG footage (from rec.2100 to rec.709) since it has a great color chart auto adjust feature. I just load my footage up in Davinci Resolve and make the LUT and then apply it in Vegas Pro and edit from there, so I'm not encoding anything with Davinci, but it looks like I may have to.

Update, I got it to work by enabling the Quicktime plugin in Options > Preferences > Deprecated Features.

Not sure if I needed this codec pack but I installed the Avid QuickTime Codecs LE pack from their website from the link on this page: https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/faq-why-won-t-vegas-open-my-file-correctly-codecs-converters-etc--104572/

I got a sample video from the Atomos Ninja V in the DNxHR HQX format and it now opens in Vegas pro 17 now.

EDIT: I can also open ProRes files. I tested with HQ 422. Prores RAW only opened the audio channels and quicktime says I need extra software to play prores RAW but the link it took me to is 404.

Did you solve the problem with ProRes files on Vegas pro? Can you open videos and edit them? I'm using Vegas 18 pro and thinking of getting the Ninja V too using it with my Nikon Z6 II but I'm afraid that the files won't work. I don't want to put time and struggle with plugins and extra software to make it work.

@Teagan @Angelo-Angeralides

ProRes support in Vegas Pro 19-550 is much improved over Vegas Pro 17. A recent example:

If you post a sample file on a cloud drive and share the link here on the forum, others will be able to share their experience.

Prores 422 and DNxHR and ProRes Raw all work great from the ninja V. This was an old post. I didn't even need the quicktime plugin enabled for vegas to read the prores files. Note I'm on Vegas Pro 19.

@john_dennis can you open these files on your vegas pro? These files in ProRes raw are recorded with Ninja V, the one I'm planning to buy. But it seems Vegas Pro 18 that I have cannot even open the file not even if i drag the file to my timeline.

Ok, it seems that I need to upgrade to Vegas Pro 19 :-)

I would wait until it's officially supported if it's something you need.

@Angelo-Angeralides Don't do that. According to those people who have discoverd and used it, vegas can't tweak Prores Raw's meta Data, and build 532 removes the hidden Prores Raw support. So you should wait for the new Vegas 2022 to see if they officially fully support Prores Raw.
