formingus wrote on 11/26/2022, 6:34 AM

Hi, i have problems with the audio,

My audio on vegas has background noise like "ss ss ss ss" or sometimes like a sound scratch on begin. It does not happen to all videos but mostly yes which points me to think is codecs but videos on another video editor are totally OK! I try resetting Vegas CTRL+Shift but didn't soleve the problem. Options are by default. Any advice from advanced users? Thanks in advance

A couple of requests:

Can you please upload to the forum an .mp3 example of the 'noise' that you are experiencing?

Can you please upload a MediaInfo report - https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/faq-how-to-post-mediainfo-and-vegas-pro-file-properties--104561/ - on the audio media that you are using?

What are your computer's specifications?

You've been on the forum for a while. Maybe it's now time to add your computer specs etc to your forum signature so that those on the forum don't have to wonder whether your computer's CPU is an i3-4xxx or an i9-12xx - and ditto for the GPU specs - as well as all other specs.

What's the audio source? What audio is Vegas using in preferences?

rraud wrote on 11/26/2022, 10:25 AM

Are there any audio plug-ins being used. Vegas use to insert sub par plug-ins by default that could have been enabled by mistake. If not set properly, excessive compression and/or AGC (auto gain) can make background noise more noticeable.

  1. Convert the source .mp3 to 48/16 WAV with any external program.
  2. Report.

It sounds like, to me, that you have your input microphone level (or another input) up high with either a cable and no mike, or nothing plugged in at all. Make sure all other soundcard inputs are muted.

john_dennis wrote on 11/26/2022, 3:17 PM

@formingus

@DMT3 could be on to something.

  1. Put the file with no noise that you just rendered back into Vegas in a new project.
  2. Play and do a screen capture.
  3. Let the cursor run into silence at the end of the clip for a few seconds.
  4. Post screen capture here.

Do you by any change have Sound Forge Audio Studio installed. Many folks experienced a screeching type noise in Sound Forge, Vegas and other programs with audio, caused by Magix Low Latency 2016 driver and which was installed by SFAS,. Uninstalling the driver fixed the issue 99.9% of the time. If you have the driver installed, see this comment on how to remove it.

This could be an issue because i installed some Magix Video pro X14, now after you post i think it can be problem, but there is not such Regedit key, All with Magix that are left are https://i.postimg.cc/15S7F4Qn/Fast-Stone-Editor1.png

If the issue is only on the timeline preview, I doubt it is the low latency driver.
That said, I would try another audio driver. Non-ASIO drivers like Sound Mapper and Classic Wave are usually trouble free... if.. it is an audio driver issue.
Another possible solution would be experimenting with the playback buffer settings, but I am not sure exactly sure what is causing the noise to begin with.
As @john_dennis stated, screenshots and screen captures may help us diagnosis the issue

Show a screen capture of these Vegas and sound card settings.

Consider setting all unused inputs and outputs to Disable.
