Audio distorted when trying to edit imported from Zoom MP4

Hello,

When I downloaded the MP4 from a recent Zoom meeting and reviewed it, everything looked correct and they are working together.

I was able to upload that MP4 to YouTube.

When I took the original Zoom MP4 into Vegas Pro 21.0 and tried to edit and trim sections, the audio got distorted.

Zoom had a 2nd file for just the audio.

I ungrouped the original Zoom MP4 audio and used the other audio file. Then, I regrouped the new audio to the other video clip and then rendered the video.

The sound was good. However, the sound is not synced with the video. There's about a 2 or 3-second delay between the video to the audio.

I know someone suggested I use Handbrake. I put the video file in Handbrake and then encoded it to AAC. That didn't work.

I'm not that smart at this stuff. Any help would be great.

I'm using Vegas Pro 21.0.

Hardware is: DESKTOP-G32NU24 OptiPlex 3000

Microsoft 365 with Windows 11

@RobDeeAnne-Gunnemann

Try this workaround and see if maintains sync.

21.300 doesn't work with mono audio in video files. I'd go back to 21.208 until it is fixed.

Either "enable legacy AVC" in preferences file io or do workaround as how John describes. If your zoom outputs multiple audio files the audio only ones may work fine in VEGAS, it's just the one with the video file that has issues.

How can I get back to the 21.208 version if I have the 21.300 version?

You can click on the link above and download it. Just uninstall 300 with add/remove programs.
