Audio issues

So I've been using VP15 for a while and uploaded a few videos with no problem, until now, I've been having audio issues and I need help ASAP! I downloaded a song and it saved as either Mp3 or Mp4, I dragged my music song file onto the program to have it on the timeline and the audio plays with a screeching whining sound. No waveform, no clear sound, no nothing. I tried desperately to find a solution but so far I got nothing, please help me out and if anyone knows the answer and if it works, thanks a bunch!

Can you post the file online or at least a MediaInfo report

Does the file playback OK in other players? (for instance VLC, WMP, MPC, QT). If so, there are many on-line audio file transcoders. Convert it to PCM <.wav>. Otherwise, you could maybe re-record the 'Stereo mix' from your PC's sound card as it plays.. (aka, 'record what you hear'.. if your PC supports it).

Lossy formats (MP3, AAC, ect.) should be avoided if possible in the editing stage of a project. Always download or save audio files in a PCM format if you have a choice.. .

Sorry, I just got back my PC after free repairs and hopefully reinstalling Vegas Pro 15 would fix any of the sound issues but I'm still getting sound audio issues :( I've got no other solution to turn to since they don't work for me because there too complicated. And I've tried to go through the preference option and yet still nothing, I need a clear walk through on how I can get this audio issue fixed because I've actually posted a few youtube videos with absolutely no problem until this came up. Really need some help badly :(
