Audio repeating and glitching out in Sony Vegas Pro 15!

I've had this problem for a while. In the beginning, it would just mean that the audio from the end of a recording would instead play in the beginning of the video. If you skipped to that part of the video and listened to the same audio at the right place, it would go back to normal, but the problem has escalated. For one thing, listening to the the part of the recording where the audio belongs doesn't help anymore. Also, it has started doing it all over the video, so all the audio is completely misplaced. It also does a thing where one specific peice of audio can repeat itself multiple times instead of using the audio that's there in the original recording. I thought it wouldn't be a problem, since I'd already finished editing the video, but the audio errors were still there after rendering. It doesn't matter if I reopen the recording in a new Vegas file, it's still completely wrong. However, when I opened the original recording on my computer without Sony Vegas, it was completely fine. I don't know what to do, and would greatly appreciate help on this matter.

I am using Sony Vegas Pro 15, 64bit on Windows 10 (HP ZBook)

The videos I am trying to work with are mp4.

I have used the program without it going this bad for over a month.

Any help would be appreciated!

Which build of Vegas Pro 15 do you use?

ida-berg wrote on 4/1/2018, 9:19 AM

It's build 321

Any chance to share such a MP4 source file which demontrates the issue when imported into VP15?

Sorry, I'm not really sure what you're asking for... Do you want the original file, the one from Vegas or the rendered one? I could send whichever one.

The original MP4 recording file. This one would need a closer analyse because it seems either these files are corrupted in some way or it is affected by a VP15 decoding issue.

Sorry, but I cannot download this file. I tried several times and each time in the end a network error message appears and the downloaded file seem to be corrupted.

It's a really big/long file. I downloaded it and it seems to play fine, but it's difficult for me to know which audio should belong where.

What app did you use to record it?

Does it help to disable so4compoundplug? https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/avc-xavc-s-issues-in-vp15-try-disabling-so4compoundplug-dll--108345/

So, I've found a solution to the problem, even though it took a LOT of time. Basically, what I had to do was make an mp3 file out of the original one. Then open the original file in vegas, split the audio from the video, remove the audio and replace that with the mp3 file. I then rendered that and replaced the original file with the newly rendered one. It was somewhat like that specific file was not compatible with Sony Vegas Pro, or something, since it played just fine on my computer, and I could download it on another one and play it just fine there as well. Either way, I found a way to make it work, in case anyone else comes across this problem. Only downside is the rendering time it took. With the original file being two and a half hour long, it took almost eight hours to render the replacement file, but in the end it's better than having completely lagged out sound.

This said, thank you both very much for trying to help me with this problem. I really do appreciate it.

I've been having the same issue with my audio as described here. However i'm now running build 361 and this is the first time i've had an issue with this. I am using Nvidia Shadow Play (Share) or whatever they call it now. So i disabled so4compoundplug as suggested by Nick above. But now Vegas completely freezes when trying to rebuild peaks. I'm not sure what to do at this point.
