Audio ticks that aren't in the source video.

Hi all,

I'm using Vegas 17, and am experiencing an issue that seemingly came out of nowhere. My source video (fitness class with mic audio) is clean, but when I load the video in Vegas and play it back, I'm getting intermittent and seemingly random "ticks" in the audio. I've tried reinstalling, reinstalling my audio drivers, nothing seems to work. It's getting quite frustrating as everything was running smoothly up until that point and I haven't altered my settings in any way. A web search didn't reveal anything of use.

Anyone suggestions on how to resolve this would be appreciated.

Menu "Options/Metronom".

It's not the metronome, I've checked.

Can you post a clip. Ticks and such are usually related to a hardware issue.

Record the audio to a stand alone recorder.

Says playback has been disabled by owner.

I listened to the video at the points you complained about and was not offended by clicks or pops. I was put off by room acoustics, the sound of flanging or a noise gate on the audio track or in the camera. I'd suggest you get the mic(s) a little closer and do something to dull the room reverberance. Turn off AGC in the camera if on.

You could also shoot closer to the subject and throw some pillows around to soak up some of the room noise.

"Version 17.0 (Build 421)"

The last build of Vegas Pro 17 was 452. You should update to pick up the latest bug fixes.

Any ticks and clicks are the least of your current problems. You need a mic in closer proximity, an overhead boom mic, wireless lavaliere, or a headset mic. A headset mic would be the best choice for that particular acoustically 'live' room.

Try rendering to a 48kHz audio sample rate and a 192kps or higher audio bit rate, though I am not exactly sure that is where the problem lies. Does the problem persist when rendering audio only AAC and PCM files.

Fix the sound then worry about the ticks, cause nobody is going to want to listen anyway. Save your audio as PCM files when recording as well. The clicks may very well fix themselves.. so to speak
