Audio Waveform?

Is there a way to display the audio wave forms in Vegas Effects like there is in Vegas Pro? I am making a motion graphic that I am timing up to an audio clip and currently I am just fiddling with the placement of the audio until it looks and sounds right, but would be a whole lot faster if I could see a wave form on the Effects Timeline.

In VE preferences, checking show waveforms does not enable a waveform display. In other preference choices, audio options are all greyed out. While VE plays audio, there are no audio options - but keeping in mind that VE with Vegas Pro is intended for video compositing only.

Should the question be asked as to whether or not VE can be updated to include waveforms, the answer is unfortunately probably not.
