AVC bitrate information?

Yep wrote on 3/15/2015, 1:28 AM
I'm trying to find out how I can determine the bitrate of an AVC file. When I look at the file's properties in Windows explorer it doesn't give that information. I've also tried using MediaInfo, but that doesn't give any bitrate info either. I also tried to find a way using Google but to no avail.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Free MediaInfo utility will tell you probably more than you want to know about the video. Yes, video and audio bitrates are listed.

I've found Mediainfo delivers information about files with an .avc extension.

Mediainfo

There is no right-click context sensitive menu option for .avc, however.

Thanks for the replies all.

I already have MediaInfo on my system. It only gives a "Maximum bit rate" not the actual bitrate that was used to encode the file. I've just checked and it doesn't show audio information. Yes I've tried all the views in MediaInfo. I do know the file was encoded using Main Concept AVC/AAC - not sure if that would make any difference?

Just tried Media Player Classic. Again it just gives a max bitrate.

Media Information in VLC doesn't give it either.

Was it encoded Variable Bit Rate or Constant Bit Rate (CBR)?

Have you tried Bitrate Viewer?

Mainconcept VBR would report "Bitrate" and "Maximum Bitrate" in MediaInfo.
"Bitrate" means "Average Bitrate."
If you only see one number, that would mean CBR.
Hope that clears it up for you.
