Bitrate for perfect uncompromising, yet not absurdly high quality work

Is it me me or are there no options in the rendering window to render xavc-I with a custom bit rate ?

@3POINT Sure, they are ready to go templates. I just want to be sure they fit my requirements. I'm afraid they were made just average to save some disk space or something. I often doubt when I don't know.

@Marty111 Those Intermediate file are as is, ready to go. I suspect you are beginning to overthink this.

The sample tested FHD 422 HQ gets you there.

For sure 422 HQ would be my go to choice in this situation.

Yes I overthink everything for a while now, I guess it's because I'm a bit angry I didn't know about some basic stuff like resample for years, this led to a lot of my video work looking amateurish although I though I was doing it right.
Well 422hq is three times the size of xavc-I but I'm not closed to any option.

By the way the tables are for 10 bit video, I don't think anything I encountered was 10 bit except for a few special x265 movies. Usually everything is 8 bit right ?

@Marty111 My weapon of choice for source file was Xavc-I. The rendered out output files were initially 8 bit. I did testing with other output files, other tables, I just posted what I thought was most relevant to you.

I just did a quick 9s FHD test clip at 422 HQ, and it gets you there.

I'm not sure what more you need, I offered to test your downloadable file, but I understand that may not be possible.

I'm beginning to think that you just can’t make a decision. We're into 50+ posts with very useful information and your still procrastinating. Get on with it.

I don't see any options in the rendering window to render XAVC-I or 422HQ with a custom bit rate :

Edit : I think I understand, it's calculated automatically.
Well, 422HQ : "estimated size 53 GB" for a less than 4 minutes video, that's utter craziness... :(
And only 69 MB for the same thing with XAVC-1, something is wrong in their estimation.
XAVC-I and XAVC intra are the same thing right ?
Indeed the estimation was wrong, XAVC intra gave me a 3 GB file. I guess it's fine.
And 422HQ gives me a 4 GB file. The difference isn't that big. I guess the size depends on the content. Well 422HQ it is then. I couldn't thank you enough for your patience @Former user. Thanks especially to @Rednroll, and thanks to all of you for your precious contributions !

I hope you'll pardon me if it turns out something is wrong and I ask again for some help. But I think it's ok and that I got the matter solved thanks to you.

@Marty111 👍

Oh wait... The bit rate is probably different depending on frame rate. So I'll need templates for
1080p 30fps, and 720p 30fps

No, it shouldn't be. Bitrates are measured per second, not per frame, not per pixel.

Thanks Eric.

So finally, Marty uses a present render template! 😂
