Yes, I have done as you have said, but unfortunately I still have black screen.

The next step is to provide a lot of detailed information about your computer and the media that you are using as per https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/important-information-required-to-help-you--110457/. Please note especially the request at point C-1 which asks for a detailed MediaInfo report (a free app) about the media.

Silly question, I know, but have you tried playing the video in Vegas? Could it be that the first frame (or few frames) are actually just a black screen?

I run ANY videos successfully in the Vegas Pro, but when I try to edit them in the Vegas Effects, I get a black screen for a whole video, I only hear the sound. This happens with any videos. I sure that I miss something simple.

Interesting. I just tried dragging a video as the OP did but it doesn't work. But you are correct if File/Vegas/Import is used - then a video event can be imported successfully into VE. I stand corrected.

@Optifyne It looks like you have Layer selected, you need to be on Viewer.

Works fine here with standalone Vegas Effects 4 and 5. Seem to recall it worked fine with VE 3 as well, but I no longer have a version of that that I can test.

(This is sometimes frustrating with Vegas. Things that work fine for one person don't work for another. For example I can't use any (well, almost all) of the Boris Continuum BCC+ tools in VE5 - they cause it crashes immediatel, whilst others report it works fine (and it worked fine for me in VE4))

File > Options > Render

and uncheck 'Use hardware decoding if available'

@Optifyne @MikeS Thanks for updating your Signature, I'm a bit puzzled, 'uncheck 'Use hardware decoding if available'' - but I don't think you should have a problem with a RTX 3050 Ti ? or am I misunderstanding? 🤔

Check your graphics driver is up to date, GeForce Experience will make that easy https://www.nvidia.com/en-gb/geforce/geforce-experience/ or go to Vegas Pro - Help - Check for driver updates.

It's a behaviour inherited from HitFilm. FXHome may address this in HitFilm, but Magix' current strategy of only updating Vegas Effects (and Image) with a new version release of Vegas (rather than the older way of pretty much following the HitFilm bug fix releases) means we probably won't see this fixed for another 9 or 10 months at best
