Black screen with iPhone 13 Pro video

Hello all,

I recently bought an iPhone 13 Pro. I've recorded some video and I've tried to import it to Vegas Pro 18, but I can't see the video, I just hear the audio and the screen remains black, both in preview and in trimmer. Video format is HEVC (both 4K and HD, HDR I think). I have no problem with HEVC video from my previous iPhone X.

I'd be glad if anyone could give me some hint, to know if iPhone 13 Pro video is supported in Vegas Pro 18 or if there is something I need to check.

I paste below MediaInfo excerpt:

Well, I reply to myself.

After googling and fiddling with the settings I finally found the source of the problem. Under Preferences>File I/O, I changed "hardware decoder to use" from Intel to NVIDIA, and most importantly, I unchecked "unable legacy HEVC decoding". That fixed it.

Thanks anyway

@Juanjo

If you still have problems, you can also try transcoding the file to a constant frame rate using Handbrake, as it has a variable frame rate, which Vegas doesn't like.

In the future, you could also try setting your smartphone to a constant frame rate.

Generally the Intel decoder is more compatible.
