here at my place, v8 over decklink sd extreme with 6.6.1 shows video preview on external monitor in pal.
capture also works and source (analog composite, analog component, sdi) depands on setting in decklink's control panel. vegas offers 8 or 10bit capture. great.
but ptt doesn't work at all. i tried in manual, crash, auto edit or auto edit preview modes. every mode crashes vegas and try to insert only video (no audio ch). rs422 instruction doesn't corespond with selection. i would like to see assemble mode also when i speak about.
chrash sending next message:

Ok, since I'm guessing the squished pixels are going to happen to almost every standard Vegas Install, let my little simple mind ask the this seemingly simple suggestion:

If Black Magic and Sony want the hardware and software to run together, then why don't you two get together and just do it.

If the 3 of us Vegas Users are the norm, then the vendors look a little foolish releasing flawed software. If you want this to be beta, then tell us ahead of time what works and so we don't waste our time and get frustrated.

John Cline mentioned non standard mjpeg files from BM. Interesting to me is that the captured files display properly in WMA player and BM player, but not the VLC or Vegas Viewer.....

Anyway, please please please, get this sorted out.

This is XP_x64 & Vegas 8.0a specific (I know SCS don't officially support 64bit yet).

- loaded BMD 6.6.1_x64 drivers
- ran patch "Blackmagic Video Hardware Drivers.exe" to put missing file in correct folder.
- V8a video preview works well
- RS442 works to control deck (Digibetacam)
- CAPTURE - doesn't work - goes through pre-roll and deck keeps playing, but nothing is being captured to HD, deck keeps on playing forever until you hit cancel.
- PTT - doesn't work - recognises Decklink device, but no device properties. (unable to choose 10 bit - so use SD YUV template).
Deck control works but at the point that it should be inserting video onto tape get following message -
"An error occurred while creating the media file. An invalid argument was specified"

In both cases it looks like there is a problem in the reading & writing of the file to the Hard Drive.

BTW - we always use the BMD utility "Blackmagic Deck Control" to test i/o of video. This now (6.6.1) has a problem that we can't Output either 8 or 10 bit Blackmagic files without a 12 frame hold of the image at the head. The offset doesn't have a big enough range to take this off - it only offsets 5 frames. Get(capture) works perfectly.

Anyone else have similar issues?

Hi, Guys. I discovered that I'm not the only one with this kind of frustration! During the last 48hs I was trying to work with my Decklink Cards and Vegas 8a. I'm Using a Pc Vaio RS630G, 3.2ghz, 1Gb. , 2 internal IDE HD of 300Gb each and 1 external scsi Drive of 80Gb, conected with an Adaptec 39160 card at 160mb.
This is the story: I was using Vegas 7 with Declink SD Multibridge, capturing uncompress 10bit video with Decklink Console, editing in Vegas and printing to tape via SDI to Digibeta and Audio in 4 channels without problems, using the Blackmagic Driver V.5.6.
Then I bought the Vegas 8 and updated to 8a.
I'm working with Beta SP and a UVW-1800, then I bought an old analog Decklink Sp card to use it with analog Beta NTSC.
I'd donwloaded the BM driver 6.6 beta for Vegas8 and then all the problems started to kill me! Vegas 8a recognize the BM card for preview audio & video, but when I'm trying to print to tape, after rendering the whole project, simply crash with this error:

Then I make the most stupid corrections: First I'd uninstalled the BM 6.6 driver and Installed BM 5.6 driver again. I took off the analog Decklink card and installed the SD Multibridge card again, but with the external Multibridge converter, Then when I run Vegas 7 , I can preview audio& video and when I try to print to tape ( in analog Beta Ntsc converted from SDI thru the external Multibridge) the serial control of the deck don't work very well, changing the editing ponits and inserting only audio. Then I decided to record manually and working well. Then Vegas 7 and BM 5.6 driver is working fine.
What can I do with Vegas8?
Sony Support please try to solve this problems, I'm paddling against the river with Vegas during the last 4 years, trying to don't give up to Final Cut. I have to finish a 13x30 min. series by the end of this week! And I'm really feeling that I'd paid the upgrade to Vegas8 in vain.

Seriously, there have been three version of the Intensity drivers since this thread was started and the problem of the half-height MJPEG files remains.

Currently, the only way to get Intensity footage in and out of Vegas is to use uncompressed YUV and that means about 450 gig for an hour-long HD program. I REALLY need to have the MJPEG import/export work correctly.

Is there

I am using the Intensity Pro card with drivers 1.8.2 in Vegas 8.0a pro and connecting a BenQ FP241WZ with an HDMI cable and have noticed the following:

When monitoring via the intensity, the contrast is increased and the blacks are clipped.
When monitoring 1080p 23.976 footage the image size is standard def, not high def. When using 1080/60i the size is high def correctly.

Thanks,
Robert

Please oh Please. Sony.... Help us.

There are times and/or reasons when we need to capture from other sources. The black magic Intensity is one heck of an input card for the price and the uncompressed and component inputs fill many needs.

Please put a little effort into fixing the codec problem. I don't have a problem using their capture program for uncompressed, but their compressed format doesn't work in Vegas. I'd bet more than a buck or two that if your guys call their guys, you can figure this out in less than one day.

If it's a major problem, let us know so we can get off the roller coaster ride we are on with this issue and move on.

Please please please, give us some feedback (good or bad)
GaryAshorn wrote on 11/28/2007, 5:43 PM
Yes, please Sony, give me a system that can control my decks with RS422a standard, allow me to capture in 4:2:2 at what ever compression my drives can handle from my YUV sources and edit them easily to mix with my DV or HDV etc sources. OH, I did do that back in the mid 90's and I gave it up for this? I like Vegas but come on guys, it ain't that hard to do. It was available 15 years ago on my 486/33 machine. Hmmmm.... rethinking what I use and put Vegas back on the glitze and glammour only machine. Sorry but this is really something Sony should address.

I just got the following e-mail from Blackmagic regarding the MJPEG problem:
------------------------------------
Thanks for the feedback. I do believe that our engineers are aware of this MJPEG issue with Vegas and are working with the Sony engineers to see what can be done with this. I will pass your email along to them as it's always good to get additional information.

John,

Any word from Blackmagic on the MJPEG issue? I really need to know if Vegas is going to be able to control a deck for frame accurate capture and insert editing for my studio. I want to use Vegas but if it can not do the job I have to put my old VMplus back into service and go back to mixing the two systems for work. Thanks
