I'll try to see what more specific info I can offer in a followup message, but the short answer is "yes".

@Dirk

Will Boris Blue also be available from within Vegas 10?
drmathprog wrote on 10/13/2010, 6:44 AM
It's a pity Boris stuff is so pricey (at least, for a pure amateur), because it sure looks like great stuff!

Yes...great job JR. You are a believer of Boris Red. Boris Red Keyer is the fasted and best that I use. I have After Effects…but too many steps to get the perfect key.
kairosmatt wrote on 10/13/2010, 9:54 AM
A comparison of RED and BLUE is at Boris's site:

http://www.borisfx.com/blue/bluevsred.php

I *think* continuum complete is a set of filters and FX that run right out of the host program (in this case Vegas). Compared to RED which is a stand alone compositor like After Effects. RED can also be used as a plugin, but it will still bring up its own interface.

Now, can RED use the Continum Complete Filters or does it already come with many of them?

I just spoke with them. Red comes with all of the BCC 3 filters, but not the ones after that.

Thanks so much Johnny, much appreciated!

Will have a look at tonight!

I am still trying to figure out if I should go with Continuum, Blue or RED?

It be great if they would have a comparative chart showing product features side by side.

Sorry if this was discussed but will eariler products from Boris work in vegas now? I have RED 3 and BCC 5
kkolbo wrote on 10/13/2010, 11:36 AM
The old versions work the same way they always have. (no timeline integration etc.)

The new BCC for Sony Vegas Pro is fully timeline integrated and Boris RED 5 is planning to have improved integration when it is developed and released, but that is not out yet and how that will all integrate has not been shown.

Exciting additions to the editor's toolbox.

For BCC from blue or Continuum, copy BCC FILTERS from CONT. /BLUE folder to RED most will work in RED

I would go with BCC CONTINUUM because of its integration with Vegas, you have all the filters realtime in Vegas = awesome, no speed bumps

The benefit of Red is extruded logo’s and text with fx also realtime on empty event as you are working with an empty event you have to go into RED tweak and apply etc 3d transitions etc breeze but some filters keys etc are a hassle, not real time on Vegas timeline so you might as well do direct in RED render and import in Vegas

BLUE is like RED same BCC filters/ abilities and more
3d particles in 3d space, text becomes emitter or attractor
can import 3D models, transform text and obj’s in 3d space

Thanks Rory!

And thanks Johnny, great tutorial!

I was wondering if you can use BCC and do motion tracking with text or other filters that are not BCC? Or could there be are workaround?

These tools look fantastic .... wish I had the cash and could justify a purchase, but as I only do editing on home movies and for family momentos, just not in the cards.
drmathprog wrote on 10/14/2010, 4:53 AM
Yeah, that's my situation too. Boris certainly makes some nice stuff, though.
Hogwild wrote on 10/14/2010, 6:44 AM
Is this version of BCC for 64bit only? I think someone else asked, but I havn't seen a response. I checked their webpage and see that it only lists support for 64bit, so I'm assuming that's the case...?
rsp wrote on 10/14/2010, 12:03 PM
@Hogwild

There's indeed only a 64bit for download...

Just looking at the demo here. Wow this is cool stuff. I really wish it wasn't so expensive!
Laurence wrote on 10/15/2010, 3:50 PM
When I try to set up the motion tracking as per the JR demo, I can't get past the following message:

"Move the current-time marker to a previously tracked frame and click the Clear Render Cache button. Resume tracking from that point."
Jøran Toresen wrote on 10/15/2010, 4:27 PM
Laurence: Yes, Boris Continuum Complete 7 for Vegas 10 is expensive. But if you purchase four of the New Blue Effects packs, it will cost you $560. I'd rather spend $600 on Boris Continuum Complete since this plug-in opens a totally new world for us Vegas users.

Laurence,

try to trim your shot and then place the cursor right on the start of that shot and then do as Johnny did.

Worked for me

Somehow I wish we could purchase FX separetely. I think there are many FX in BCC, but many FX I will never use.

I would rather pay more per individual FX and get what I really need, otherwise it gets really crowded and sometimes I end up not buying the package. Same goes with NewblueFX and other makers of FX.

In BCC, I would really like to get the motion tracking knowing I could link any FX to it, but I guess I will have to pass this offer and wait until something else comes up.

Will probably wait till Red 5 comes out and see how it integrates with Vegas 10 and what it offers.

I've been trying out Continuum 7 with Vegas 10 and find it just amazing. One problem I have found is that the 3 Way Color Grade Filter is not included in this package which causes many problems in grading and is included in the Adobe package. I also can't figure out how to do vignetting with this package. The on line tutorials could be better. Other than the price this is a great tool!

Yea, sorry I didn't point that out. The error message means that there are frames before the current cursor position that are not tracked yet. If you just started, move the cursor to the beginning of the clip as Rob suggested. If you lost tracking in the middle of the clip, move your cursor to the last good tracked frame. The green bar at the bottom of the preview will show you the frames that have been tracked already.

Hope this helps,

OK thanks. Now it works.

Is there any way to do this? Shoot an interview in HD, zoom in, motion track, and have it look like the camera was moving to follow the talking head perfectly?
