Brand New Laptop - Vegas Pro 21.0

David-Carro6206 wrote on 7/25/2024, 1:48 PM

THE WEIRDEST THING! I've been using Vegas for well over 15 years for my side wedding videography gig and it's ALWAYS been a bit freeze-y and crash-y no matter what PC I am using (I've learned to save my project after EVERY edit or adjustment). However, I just purchased the latest and greatest Vegas 21.0 for my main work computer (I work in hospital marketing). I installed on a brand spankin' new Dell Precision 3480 laptop with 32 gigs of RAM. The program is installed on the C: the same as my video footage (I do not have dual drives). For my first very simple project, I imported about 10 interview scenes (.mp4 1080 30fps from my Nikon Z6ii) and cut them together on the timeline. As soon as I click 'Render As' the expected Render As dialogue box appears for a split second then the crash screen appears over it. Here's where it gets WEIRD... the software stays open behind the crash screen and if I click 'send' or 'do not send' on the crash screen everything disappears - crash. HOWEVER, if I drag the crash screen elsewhere (like to my second monitor), I can continue to render as normal! No problems! WTH? However, as soon as I click send' or 'do not send' on the crash screen the program crashes and disappears. Isn't this stupid? As long as I leave the crash screen open, I can edit as normal. Never in my life has this happened. I've rebooted, made some preference adjustments as per other posts, and still the same. Below is the error data and attached is a screen grab. Any thoughts, team? Thank you. Dave

Type “dxdiag” into the Windows Search box.

Run dxdiag.

Save as dxdiag.txt.

Copy the contents into a code block.

Edit / delete any information you wish to exclude.

I really appreciate the starting guidance and did the first part of what you said, but have no idea how to 'copy the contents into a code block.' I even Googled how to do what you said but couldn't find anything I understood. Any other step-by-step guidance? Thank you.

@David-Carro6206 I apologize for creating more confusion than you already experienced.

The intent of the dxdiag request was that we could learn about your "brand spankin' new Dell Precision 3480 laptop" hardware since you haven't had this type of error on your old hardware.
