I too am seeing the problem of nested veg's being too long in duration when added to the timeline. However, I notice it only happens if there are markers on the timeline when adding a nested veg. Can anybody verify this?

Bingo, I duplicated it. It was a marker.

770 frame veg clip.
Open new project, no timeline markers, import clip, select veg in file selection box, properties say 770.
Close project, open new one.
Open new project, marker at 350, import clip, select veg, properties say 770.
Close project, open new one.
Open new project, marker at 1350, import clip, select veg, properties say 1350.
veg is now temporarily 1350 unless you remove veg from media pool, remove marker, and re-import.

The veg is assuming the length of where the marker is. No telling what happens when you put more than one marker on the timeline, like many of us do.

Definite bug for Sony to fix.

" No telling what happens when you put more than one marker on the timeline . .. . " LOL . .! ! ! !

I'm wondering IF - and I do have a multitude of VEGgies with markers in them AND markers too .. I'm now wondering maybe, just maybe, the Media Manager is having fun and games attempting to open, find, construct nested-veggied-projects that are appearing, as they should, appearing as a clash?

Is this hapenning for people with V6c? Wolfie?

Nah . can't be . .others would have this problem with Media Manager too!

Grazie

fldave,

Good catch on the veg duration being related to the placement of the marker. I was trying to figure out the relationship when I read your post.

Grazie,

I'm using V6c but I have disabled the Media Manager so I don't know if your problem is related to this.

MM disabled for me, too.

Edited: can those of you with outstanding problems reported to Sony, please pass this info to them? Thanks.

Hello everybody,

The nested project bug was reported via Tech Support, reproduced, and has been fixed for the next Vegas update. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

I *know* I may be wasting my time asking, but could I ask (since I have nothing to lose), should we expect the next Vegas update before the end of the year (2005)?

Not being able to use markers *and* nested timelines is a real hindrance to my workflow for my project at hand.

Thanks.

I see a similiar problem when I use Ultimate-S Lower Third. When I insert a lower third between two markers the length of the lower third event(veg file) is the full 10 seconds. The lower third effect starts at the beginning of the event (veg file) but only runs for 3 seconds and ends. The remaining 7 seconds of the event (veg file) is blank. When the lower third is inserted without markers both the effect and the event (veg file) run the full 10 seconds. It looks like the same problem.
