Confirmed. "Use Current Project Folder" will not save to the current project folder.
I am having trouble establishing how it decides which of the other 2 options to save to if "Use Current Project Folder" is selected. In my case it is not always just the previously selected folder.
It's true what I have subfolder in project folder and there save same backups BUT as you may see in screenshot Advanced Save Utility not recognize this backups.
Please Fix it. And @NickHope please untag this as solution in build 352. Or create a new ticket for this bug.
But normal I don't because the projectmap with me has to stay as clean as possible and I choose for those backups my fastst drive. My choice , but the option works here excellent
Advanced Save Utility still looking into folder shown in this utility (for you "s:\Render", for me "C:\Users\Martin\AppData\Local\VEGAS Pro\16.0"). It's BUG!!!
This backup utility must looknig into folder what I have selected in radio-button not in the folder what showing (or fix showing folder). MAGIX team fixed ONLY saving backup into correct folder but forget fix looknig and restore from this directory.
Please fix it.
@NickHope this is not fixed. @j-v can you try this situation? Remove your backup from s:\render folder and try again.
No it's not wortking correctly! @j-v can you try this situation? Remove your backup from s:\render folder and try again.
What can I do more to convince you? That Browse option was greyed out and thus not working, it was my former setting, but I had choosen to save it to the projectfolder (that was V:\Sample Project). But to help you again look to my screenshot now with again a greyed out folder with also that projectlocation opened to convince you.
I think I can repro the problem. I'll do some more testings, though. At least after I started using a custom folder for the backups it first worked fine. I then switched the setting to use the current project folder (for which I used a different path) and deleted the content of the former backup folder, the next backups where no more recognized for the restore feature.
Yes, I tested many times in many ways now and definitely there still is an issue when using the current project folder as backup folder by selecting that option radio button.
On my system there is no way to let VP16 b.352 recognize this folder for a backup restore as long as it's set to use the current project folder (via the radio button). But once I switch that setting to use a defined path (via the "select folder" radio button) and I use exactly same path to the project folder, it will offer the given backup files for a restore.
I wonder why this seem to work on some systems like j-v's but not on ours. I already tried disabling my virus scanner but this doesn't make it work. I will send a bug report later next days.
Maybe it is a localization error. I use a German localized version of Vegas Pro. @musko do you use a localized version, too, or the english version of Vegas Pro.
I found it depends on the path used for the current project save folder setting. If that current project is saved on the desktop or in a desktop subfolder it does not work. But if I save the project on an external storage or in a subfolder like "C:\MyProject" then it works fine.
Indeed this might be the case for non-english Windows installations only. It seems like the error is caused by some Windows internal path reroutings which naming may differ depenend on the Windows system language.
My system is Windows 10 Home too. Windows localization - Slovak. Vegas language - English.
I have main project folder with some subfolders (his subfolder contain veg file). This main project folder is in root of drive "F" (as you see in screenshot).
Setting in Advanced Save Utility (radio-button) is "Use Current Project Folder".
In this folder correctly save backup files, but for restore Vegas not looking into this folder.
While the original problem was fixed in VP16 build 352, I am finding the same existing problem, that backups in my projects folder ( D:\Documents\0-Vegas-projects\VEGAS-Pro-16\ ) are not listed in the "Restore Project" list, nor at the bottom left of the "VEGAS Advanced Save Utility" window, where it continues to say "Last backup for current project: None". The backups are being created.
I am using an English version in Windows 10 Pro version 1511. I doubt this is related to language differences.
I also had a few hard crashes when I did "Clear all backups". I submitted one through the problem reporting service but since purging all backups in all locations I am unable to repeat it, and I am not sure which combination of settings was the cause.
Until this is properly fixed, backups can be manually restored by opening the project files in the conventional way instead of using the "Restore" feature.
I made a new Support Request [Ticket#2018122117002381] and added it to the Known Issues post.
@NickHope Is it possible that it has something to do with rights. All the other options do work with me, only when the program has to make a minorbackup in my Windows Documents location nothing is happening.

Possible I suppose. Or it could be something else about your setup and/or test that is slightly different. Maybe it is to do with language after all. I have the problem wherever my project is saved:
The release notes for VP16 build 424 state "The Restore function for auto save now works properly".
My backups (at least the minor ones) are now showing in the list when I click "Restore..." however at the bottom left of the window it still says "Last backup for current project: None". So there still appears to be a bug there.
