BUG: Video clips repeat certain part at times, audio works fine

John-Rodgers wrote on 9/9/2024, 2:28 PM

So recently, any video clip I import has this bug where it replays a random part of the video itself occasionally, while the audio works just fine. It also appears in my renders. I'm using Vegas Pro 21.0 (Build 315). I am running it through Windows 11 on a CyberPowerPC gaming desktop with an AMD Ruzen 3 2300x 3.5GHz processor. My GPU is an AMD Radeon RX 6700 RT.

Edit: I have another glitch for some videos, where the audio itself is slowed and distorted, while the video itself is (often) fine.

@John-Rodgers Please do not double post.

What exact format are these clips & where are you sourcing them? Also are you importing them from an external drive?

I won't double post anymore, but yes, I'm importing them from an external drive (I think).

Now sometimes my clips glitch in certain frames with datamosh

Well that may be the root cause of your issue. Place those same clips on your main C drive or desktop, import them into Vegas and see if the issue continues.

There are issues with the new media decoder in 21. Can you share MediaInfo for the media you are using?

Okay, it works fine now so far. NVM.

@John-Rodgers We need to see detailed MediaInfo on your problem clips in order to help you. Instructions here https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/faq-how-to-post-mediainfo-and-vegas-pro-file-properties--104561/

I'll figure it out

Likely you'll need to enable legacy AVC or experimental HEVC in preferences, file io or reencode the media in other software as workarounds.

@John-Rodgers

What you describe, random snips of video repeating or popping up, is often a symptom of not having "Quantize to Frames" and "Snapping" enabled in your timeline settings.

Unfortunately, you can't correct this by changin the setting after you already have media on the timeline, except with a third-party script.

The solution is to open a New Project, set Quantize and Snapping, as well as the Project to match your Source settings, and re-introduce your media.

Best of luck, and welcome to the discussions.
